$189 + free ship, hopefully it'll fall down to the $163 soon.

E4300 for $189 is not a good deal... I bought my E6300 for $150...
Another thing to consider is that if an E4300 and E6300 are the same price then you take into account the price of the components to go with them....the E4300 system comes out significantly cheaper if you plan to OC at all eh?
So, if you want to buy a system now, you might spend $30.00 more on the processor than if you waited two months but you'd more than make up for that in the price difference between RAM and motherboard?
I've been feeling like that about Newegg for a while now. Oh well, it could be worst. Newegg could have charged what ZZF is charging for it.so incredibly lame
The only thing the E4300 doesn't have that the E6300 has is VT. Oh noes @ 66MHz on the FSB!!!!!! That is the end of the worldz!
That 66mhz looks more like 200-300mhz difference in benchmarks.. And the fact that this CPU is supposed to be around $150...

The E4300 is awesome CPU, but it's just not worth $190. Maybe $130, then it will be a good deal.

Whats that?
I use VMware and the 4x series sucks with it...
I'm waiting for all these different price-point chips to force the retail channel into a better alignment with Intel's pricing policy. Then I'm going to build another couple E6600 boxen.
So, I'm digging on the 4x series because it will be the next "gotta have it chip" for the guys that are causing the pricing weirdness.
What do you mean, the 4xxx series sucks at VMware? I ask because I'm considering a E4300 and I plan on running VMware and the F@H SMP client.
4xxx series does not support Intel Virtualization Technology
That feature of the Conroe was gutted out of the 4000's
So stock/same OC 6300 wins, and it cost less
E4300 = 1.8GHz
E6300= 1.86GHz
Difference= 60MHz
I guess another way to look at this processor, a budget E6600 with only 2MB cache, because it has the same multiplier. 3.32GHz on stock cooling is also very nice for a cheap that will become the cheapest C2D soon.
You don't look at E4300 as a E6600 with 2meg cache because clock speed is different, FSB is different, no VT...
People don't buy overclocked processors because Overclocking is not guaranteed or warranted...
It's about 66MHZ slower in clock frequency and has a 266MHZ or 66MHZ slower FSB depending on how you count it.
It's also supposed to be 163USD, for the moment it is priced high at Newegg.
I thought VT was the ability to have both Windows and Linux installed, and VMware was just a Linux emulator for Windows?
But people aren't looking at this processor right now as a processor to run at stock speeds, they are looking at it because it should provide a cheaper and better overclocking solution than the E6300 or E6400. People should not look at this processor as a viable low-cost C2D solution for a stock system until the price gets cut to $113.
Obviously if you need VT, the E4xxx series is out of the question. Clock speeds and FSB are always adjustable as long as you have even a decent motherboard.

I find I'm most impressed with the fact that so many people can and have stuck with the stock cooler for Conroe (its nice to not have to spend money on a new one - except in the case of high OC's).
The e4300 with a gig or more OC on stock cooling is crime indeed (so inexpensive)!
I wish someone would have threw a waterblock on it and run some tests.Yes sir, and Anandtech's review said it would surely go higher with an aftermarket cooler, I'm surprised they didn't throw one on and max it, but that's why they are Anandtech and not another review site. :-\
Woot! I have two weeks before I can buy one anyways.Down $10. Needs to down another $10.
