E4300 Core Voltage

Okay, I have a E4300 running at 2.8GHz instead of it's stock (1.8GHz), which has been stable for the last 2 months with the exception of a instant reboot soon after my desktop (Windows XP) loaded (no power-off).I am also using a Enermax Liberty 620W and a ASUS P5BDeluxe, my question is what CPU vcore voltage should I be running at to achieve this clock with this setup? What is too high? What can cause potential damage? Thanks!

if the setup is stable enough for your use, then dont increase the Vcore

if your system keeps crashing regularly under an OC, the first thing to try would be the increase the Vcore, but if it is stable, there is no point in upping the Vcore
 
Well, my system rebooted again (I reformatted yesterday, before this all happened) and right before the system reboots my Royale Noir theme (using the UXTHEME.DLL patch) changes into the Windows classic theme, next a BSOD comes up but before I can read it the system just reboots without the power going off... anyone have any idea whats going on?

you might want to do a memtest of your system at its current settings

either find memtest for a floppy, or get the UBCD (ultimate boot cd) or something, and run memtest on your system for a few hours on end
 
Also, not all E4300 can boot at 2.8-3.0 GHz without a vcore increase so bump it 1 or 2 notch above and see if reboots stops.
 
i'm running mine at 2.7 (300 FSB) at default vcore (with EIST and C1E enabled i get ~1.18v at idle :cool: )
try increasing the vcore 0.1v...

Due to manufacturing tolerances every core is different in its ability ot OC and how it responds to voltage so its impossible to say a particular voltage you should be running. What is typically done is to test for stability. Are you having issues ? what is your Vcore now ?

Intel data sheet absolute maxium Vcore is listed at 1.55 V.

I personally do not like to run over 1.40V but if I had some overwhelming need (cant imagine one but anyway) I might got to 1.45.

Regarding the Absolute Maximum Vcc (Vcore) this is what Intel has to say from the cpu data sheet. It is not clear to me exactly what "functional operation limits" are but appear to be a lot of things, voltage stability, VRD overshoot, other signals and voltages within spec. bit confusing, In short less it more, it will pay to determine the least amount of Vcore required to sustain a stable OC, just dont crank it up.

I've got my e4300 at 1.4625v and it's rock solid stable at 3.25GHz with a Zalman 9700 cooler. I've tried to juice a few extra % out of it and can get it up to 3.5GHz but it gets too hot (had to go to 1.55v).
