E1200 overclock when do i stop?( i know chips very)

Ok so here goes i have a e1200 and a GIGABYTE GA-73PVM-S2H
this is everything in my system. i use for gameing and school work i run my ac at 72c

I have 500 budget with 160 left for video card I want to wait untill the next generation so that i can get a better deal but im tired of waiting plus the age keeps growing on my setup.... so here is the thing. I ran a vidoe card my buddy had in his computer can't rember what it was for the life of me but he said i needed a 550 watt psu to run it but ran it fine. He has a cpu that was probably 2x the juice so.. here is the thing. I would like to know how far i need to push my cpu in order to run a video card in the 160 budget.. while getting the best card for 160 dollars max. where do i need to stop. i hope i will get a uesd q6600 at the end of 09 ... but thats a far time off so maybe not. with that aside how much do i need to overclock my cpu to keep up with the gpu that 160 can buy!
please answer me back i have a 6600gt and have no clue my gpu is the bottleneck now. ive calculated that i use about 220-260 watts systems wide at max
 
Probably quite a bit. I mean you can get a HD4890 for less than $160 now, but the E1200 may bottleneck it.

With your setup I'd probably get a HD4770 or HD4850 (either should cost $100 or less), while trying to push the computer to 3GHz or more. There's no need to upgrade the PSU if you do that. Anything faster than a HD4770 or HD4850 and your CPU may start to bottleneck the video card.
 
For 160 you can pick up either a GTX260-216 or a 4870. At that stage, your 1200 regardless of how much you clock the bejesus out of it isn't going to be able to keep up. Find a used Q6600 G0, the upgrade will really make a huge difference in gaming.

Also, what res do you game at?
 
I had an E1200 at 3.4Ghz. I figured more than double the rated speed was probably as much as I could expect for a $40 CPU.
