Dvorak - Qwerty??

Hi all,
Quick question. Someone here in school changed the keyboard setup through windows somehow from qwerty to dvorak. I know there is some key combination that you can press to soft change the key setup back to qwerty. (Note: This is under windows 2000). If anyone knows it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
 
Try setting it in the Regional and Language settings in Control Panel. I don't know the key combination to do so, so sorry.
 
That's the problem, haha. Where the computer is at right now is the login prompt. Entering a username and password effectively becomes too laborious with this current mixup.
 
Hrrmm. Let me try to explain this more effectively. The way the network works here at school is that each student has a roaming profile. Someone here has it setup for Dvorak in their profile, and when they log off, it changes that setup for the default login command. As long as this student keeps logging in to other computers, the setup will keep changing. I know that there is some key combination to change it back to qwerty mode, but I'm not sure what it is.

Entering the username and pass in dvorak and then changing the setting locally through the control panel won't work, as it changes based on a roaming profile.

Hope that made sense, haha.
 
WTF? Who allowed that to happen? I would find out whose profile it is and then have it fixed. As for fixing it per computer I'd try booting into safe mode and see if you can change it there.
 
I dunno if it works from a login screen, but once logged, I use the left-alt + left-shift combination to toggle between FR-Canadian and US keyboard layouts, or any keyboards I have enabled. Sure hope it'll work. [edit] I'm using 2K too.[/edit]

DVORAK? woah, who is using that? Only keyboards setup I knew were QWERTY and AZERTY... :p
 
I like to use Dvorak (still learning though). Just to say I know Dvorak.

And I don't know how the roaming profile affects the login screen considering the person isn't logged in, so wouldn't his profile not be loaded?
 
If the other person logging in defaults it to dvorak, wouldn't you logging in change it back to qwerty? I mean, unless your users are all morons, or this person is just logging in to several computers several times a day, I'd think it'd be an occasional problem at best, and one that fixes itself after you login...

Or you can just learn to touch type your login in dvorak.

You'd think it'd default back to qwerty after the logout, though... maybe that's configurable on the SysAdmin side?
 
HAHA this is funny... there is probably some stupid access control preventing you from changing the system back to QWERTY.

EVIL method:
You could just rip the keys off and rearrange the keyboard to a Dvorak configuration.

Safer Method:
If it is a real annoyance send a nasty email off to the admins of your school's network and/or buy a Dvorak template to go on the keyboard.
 
why is it called Dvorak when the letters d v o r a k are nowhere near each other?
 
ctrl+shift is the default to switch keyboard layouts (at least in XP)
