I can buy a Dell adapter real cheap. Anyone use this with issues? I tried the DP->VGA, and had nothing but flickering. Will buying this solve my issues hopefully?

was your previous adapter passive?

the only concern is if the DVI adapter is bad, the first one i bought was, the 2nd one was good and it's been running strong since i bought it. hopefully that helps some.

No, the VGA adapter was active.

The guy says he's been using the dvi adapter for months for eyefinity, so hope he's telling the truth.

What is your resolution? That might be a factor if it is higher than 1920*1200 especially. If Dell is using lower quality components the resolution threshold may be lower. There is a 3*1 Eyefinity setup in a local FRY's and they are running an Accell brand passive converter(VGA) at 1400*900 but the product claims to work up to and including 1920*1200. Check this out below. It is active but has no USB dongle like the DVI adapters I have seen. All I can say is that it worked at Frys, is this the same one?

I haven't had a single problem with the one I bought from Amazon.

The fact that Dell's adapters continue to have issues is enough for me to say stay away...they've had about a year or so to get them right and still can't do it.

No, the VGA cable was different, it is the one from monoprice, though others have said that it has worked for them. My res is only 1600*1200 though, so hopefully the dell will work. I ended up buying it, was $60 shipped, was on ebay, so here's hoping it works. The guy said it worked for him, so if it doesn't for me, I'll begin to suspect my card :\

when you say bad, what does that mean? was it flickering? the monitor plugged into the dell adapter, which is plugged into the DP port flickers from time to time. it is worst when the PC comes back from sleep.
