Dungeon Runners Beta Invites Thread

Just for kicks...patch notes:

The servers will be brought down on 3/21/2007 @ 10:00am CDT for approximately 2 hours to publish an update to the game. Patch notes follow:

Bug Fixes

Issues with DirectX 8 cards have been resolved. These issues would result in older cards sometimes locking up, not displaying characters properly or showing a white mini-map.

Sorting issues have been fixed with the rendering engine. This should resolve all of the graphics problems found in Agrock's Gauntlet (i.e. snow showing behind trees and fireballs flying under ground objects).

A client memory leak related to particle systems has been fixed.

Issues with using potions have been resolved. When you use a potion, it will apply to your character even if you are stunned or knocked down.

Treasure chests now drop items for all group members, just like monsters.

Sync errors no longer crash you to the desktop. You will instead receive a popup and will be taken back to town. Additionally, several potential causes for sync errors have been resolved.

The "uber loot" bug that occured when in a group has been fixed. All players in a group will now receive loot regardless of where they are in the world. This will ensure that the extra loot generated cannot be picked up by other group members.

The brightness system has been modified to eliminate the blockiness that was caused with lighting in the game.

King's Coins should now drop from treasure chests properly.

Firing ranged weapons should behave more correctly when targeting off the map.

Monsters will no longer get stuck pathing to players that are in hard-to-reach locations.

Icon clipping with items on your cursor has been fixed.

Rapidly using multiple skill books will now properly work. Previously, you could lose learned skills when using them rapidly.

Item sell values are now maproperly displayed and applied.

Skill cool down now starts when the effect fires off, not when the automatic approach begins.

Bugs related to picking up and dropping large item stacks have been resolved.

Issues with buff and skill animations replaying when changing zones or when an older effect wears off are now resolved.

The game server will no longer allow a character to be deleted when the central chat system is down.

UI bugs related to selecting a world have been resolved.

The initial window created for the client is now labeled "Dungeon Runners" and shows the proper icon.

The who list now sorts independent of the capitalization of player names.

Some general bugs with the ignore list system have been resolved.

Rangers now have their own icon in the character creation screen.

All quests should show their return location in their summary text.

Many maps have been modified to help with pathfinding issues.

Optimizations

The graphics engine has been optimized in several ways to help with low framerate situations. Low-end graphics cards should see marked improvement.

The pathfinding system has been totally reworked to help with server performance.

The AI system has been totally reworked to help with server performance and to open up possibilities for future expansion.

The text rendering system has been totally reworked to help with client performance problems.

The way that walkable surfaces are tracked has been reworked to improve server performance. You shouldn't notice any visual difference except on staircases.

The core movement system has been totally reworked to help with server performance issues.

Balance Changes

Walking through monsters reduces your movement speed by 50%.

Dual wielding weapons now increases your attack speed by 20%. Each weapon does damage properly as well.

The price for all skills have been reduced approximately 30%.

The sell price for many items have been reduced due to a bug that accounted for magical enhancements improperly. Mythic item sell price has been increased substantially.

Skill books are no longer usable by free players.

A new cool down mechanic has been added to the game. This mechanic is called "Weapon Based Cool Down" and has been applied to several skills that depend on your wielded weapon for their damage. The cool down for such skills is based on the speed of the weapon wielded. Slower weapons will increase the cool down and faster weapons will decrease the cool down. Skills affected are: Butcher, Cleave, Fear Shot, Poison Shot, Noxious Shot, Fear of Gosh and Soul Rend.

The attack range for all two handed melee weapons has been increased to 16 world units. This is roughly double that of one handed weapons.

The critical hit chance modifier for players has been adjusted. It is now expressed as a modifier of a modifier instead of a flat bonus. By way of example, a 50% increase to critical hit chance would mean that the base chance is increased by 50%. The base critical hit chance for players has been decreased to 3%.

Magical damage resistances have been given new caps. All monsters and players now cap out at 90% resistance if their resistance value is above 90% and bottom out at 10% if their resistance is less than 10%. The exception to this rule is damage-immune monsters.

Level difference between players and monsters is now more impacting to gameplay. Fighting monsters that are above your level is more difficult for both casters and melee damage dealers. For each level that a monster exceeds a player's level they gain 10% spell resistance, 10% stun resistance and the player's spell resistances are reduced by 10%. These rules also apply to players that are higher level than monsters.

New King's Coin vendors have been added to the dungeon. You can buy rarer items from these vendors.

All monster AI has been revisisted to help with game playability and difficulty. Many monsters have received new skills to help them better kill you.

All monster stats have received balance attention to help with difficulty.

All weapons have received balance attention. It turns out that weapon attack animation speed was improperly accounted for in our damage calculations. The result is that most weapons were reduced in power to bring them in line with the intended design.

All mythic items have been revisited to ensure they are more mythical.

Stun resistance has been improved. Monsters and players can now resist knock down and knock back effects with stun resistance.

Noxious Shot has a reduced damage over time component.

Cleave's mana cost was increased and the cool down was lowered to 6 seconds. Damage was also decreased.

Soul Rend cool down was increased to 5 seconds. Damage over time duration no longer increases with level.

Ring of Fire cool down increased to 8 seconds.

Ice Bolt range decreased, mana cost increased, damage increased and AOE removed.

Ice Shards mana cost increased and damage increased.

Gaseous Blast damage over time effect will now stack on targets.

Righteous Stomp mana cost increased.

All bolt skills have been rebalanced damage-wise.

Features

Approximately 53 new quests have been added to the game. Enjoy!

A new splash screen has been added to the startup of the game. You will no longer wonder if the game is starting up. We will tackle the issue of load times in a coming build.

The cool down display on skill icons has been improved. When a skill is unavailable because of cool down, its icon will remain dim.

The X-Ray vision system has been modified to only show live monsters that your avatar can reasonably see. This will make it possible to be surprised by monsters that are hiding behind walls.

Admin chat now shows white text so that you can tell when an employee of NCsoft is chatting with you.

The effect of the "Increase Character Size" modifier has been increased substantially.

Many new armor pieces have been added to the game. Some existing armor pieces have been upgraded to use new art or have been otherwise changed. Don't be alarmed if your character changes appearance.

Press [V] to reset the camera to the default mode.

The Horrific Dungeon of Legend has been totally reworked.

A new soulbinding mechanic has been added to the game. Most soulbound items have been given a 10 minute grace period where you can try the item out before it becomes bound to you. You can see the number of minutes remaining on the tooltip for the item.

Mythic item names now have an animating rainbow font.

Old chat messages now fade out over time. Using the scroll buttons will make them visible again.

A new "/busy" command has been added to the game. When busy you will no longer receive private messages and the sender of such messages will be told that you are busy.
