Dual monitors, Adapter help!

Hi, I just upgraded from a GTX 770 to a GTX 980 and i just realised im 1 DVI port short on my GPU. Both my monitors are DVI only. One monitor is 2560*1440 and 2560*1600.

Iv so far tried bought a hdmi to dvi adapter, didn't work
then i bought a DP to DVI full cable which also didn't work.

what cable/adapter do i need? Could it also be a software problem

any suggestions are welcomed
