it used to be NT4 was licenced for 1-2 CPU and then a more expensive ver for more CPUs which is fine if you have a hyperthreading or a dual system. windows "sees" a hyperthreading CPU as 2 cpus but does it really count them that way?
there must be people now who have a dual xeons with hyperthreading and their task manager shows 4 cpus. do you need to have a different version of windows for that? or does XP just count actual physical CPUs no matter how many cores or virtual CPUs they have?
I can see the day soon when a desktop could easilly have 8 CPU in task manager (2x dual core + hyperthreading = 8 apparent CPUs) will it cause problems with windows licence?
and once they do dual core. they wont bother upping the speed that much it will be 4 core 8 core 16 core etc
it will be great! (except for the ill fated VIA low power "3 1/2 core")
