Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
A couple of years atleast. Then again, i also had a laptop that was rarely used (in storage for weeks at a time) and ended up getting the battery destroyed (Windows error says less than 30% integrity) before any of the other laptops.
I think the new batteries are more stable, and it's more likely to be worn down by heat.
Lithium Ion batteries in general are all subject to the same wear after an increased # of charge cycles.
They do not like being drained to nothing. So if you run your battery flat every day, don't expect to get more than a year of it holding a consistent charge. Modern laptop batteries store discharge information to give you an idea of the battery health. You will still have it hold a charge, but you'll start to realize you're getting 2 hours when you used to get 3, then 1 hour, then 20 minutes...
The good news is replacements aren't that expensive.
the only way you are going to run your battery flat is if you disable the power saving features of your OS. Windows Vista/7 will put the laptop into hibernation when the power level reachs 10% of reserve.
My friend has my vostro 1400 that I sold to him lasst year with a 9 cell and it orignally was a 4 hour battery and now it's about 95% of it's original capacity. I bought the latop in 2007. I used to run the battery down on a regular basis as that is better than not using it at all...my studio 1558 with i5 has a 9 cell and that thing is close to 5 hours of battery life even with a ati 4570 discrete gfx card
