Double check me before I order

About to order new rig, and haven't put together pc in 7 years, been on gaming laptops.
Can you double check if everything makes sense ?
This is mostly for gaming, never OC'ed before but I am willing to try it out with this rig.

If you are interested in OC'ing, why are you going Ivy Bridge? Unless you plan on changing the TIM between the heat spreader and the actual chip, you may have some serious heat issues trying to OC. This has been fairly well documented to this point.

For reference, I have an i5-2500k that OCs to 4.8ghz on air... easily....

I would go with an aftermarket HSF, 212 evo, dh14(pricey), H100/920 for all in one water cooler, etc.

The new IB does run hot, but really only when overclocking past 4.5 or more voltage(varies). I have the SB @ 4.8 1.38 and it runs cool, but if I were to buy a new one now it would be IB.

I am still not entirely sure what all the IB clamor is about. The IPC improvement is almost negligible. I would take a cool running higher OC SB vs the IB processors at the moment.

Yeah, it depends on if you want to OC high on the IB(4.5+).
If you want 5ghz+ then yeah, SB might be better. hehe

Some of the peoples temps were really high on IB, and they were on good water, so just depends.

I'm not gonna do crazy overclocks, just a little bit to see what the hype is about.
I'm the type of person that will buy gear, put it together and don't touch anything for next year or two.

Yes, but even on my kids stock system, I always ran an aftermarket(cheap freezer 7). It keeps the inside case cooler since it sucks air and pushed the hot air out the back towards the rear fan or top fan, making a quick exit out of the case. The stock hsf just swirls the hot air around and hope alot exits out of an exaust fan someplace.... just my 2 cents...

Oh my comment was directed ttowards the guys up top saying I shoul've skipped Ivy cuz it runs too hot when Oc'ed.

I'm actually looking for cooler right now, thinking about Geil Tranquillo.
