I kinda hated all the jumping in the previous Doom game

Agree. I stopped playing Eternal because I didn't like it. I stopped playing DA because I was doing the same thing i've already done a dozen times already. I'll eventually complete DA because I do load it up for some mindless fun every now and again and complete a chapter or two. 2016 I played through and finished pretty quickThat's my beef with Dark Ages, it's a great and original Doom game, but man it's the same old same old level after level. Fight some wimpy zombies at first, then some mini bosses, then mobs of zombies and mini bosses, and then the big boss. Rinse and repeat just in different themed levels. Gets boring rather quick for me.
Of the 3 newer Doom games, Doom 2016 is still my fav.
Agreed. Eternal was just a platform jumping mess.I kinda hated all the jumping in the previous Doom game
Dark Ages wasn't as successful as Eternal or Doom 2016 because they stopped evolving the gameplay and listened to the complainers who whined about the difficulty and platforming...Dark Ages was a step back...Dark Ages could have been the perfect culmination of the new trilogy if id Software had not listened to the outside noise and made the game they wanted
even if you didn't like the platforming you have to give them credit for trying new things...keep evolving otherwise you stagnate
Eternals success was due to 2016 being amazing, DAs lack of was due too Eternals disappointment

Eternal was a massive success...so according to your theory Dark Ages should have done even better...according to your theory Forbidden West should have done incredible sales built off of Zero Dawn
At least, that was the case for me. I pre-ordered Doom Eternal cuz I loved 2016 so much. I haven't pre-ordered a game since the 90s or early 2000s. I don't believe in pre-ordering games. I don't even get games at launch, but usually years after. I ended up canceling my pre-order (GMG was only selling the version for Bethesda Launcher), and then my senses came back to me and I decided to wait-and-see on the game. But another friend who was a big fan of 2016 bought me a copy of Eternal. So yeah I did get to play it. And yeah I ended up being disappointed. Realized if my friend hadn't bought it for me then I probably never would have bought it myself. As a result I wasn't excited about TDA at all after how Eternal turned out. But with TDA this time I knew from the get-go their intentions to change things up. With Doom Eternal I had no idea that was coming, so it really caught me off guard. Anyways a friend ended up buying me a copy of TDA, so I got to play that one too. 2016 is still the one I like the most (although there are some things I really like about Eternal that I miss when I play 2016). But the tech and the engines are so fuckin' sick. Doom Eternal may have let me down, but idTech 7 sure as fuck didn't.Eternals success was due to 2016 being amazing, DAs lack of was due too Eternals disappointment
Yes, I too loved the Souls like melee combat in the original Doom and using my shield to parry non- hit scan projectiles.Dark Ages brought us back to what Doom was from the beginning a great FPS with some brutality mixed in from time to time.
A few months ago, ZeniMax filed for a brand-new Quake trademark so we can certainly hope...
They had a decade and released 3 good Doom games. Now it's time for a change and what's better than new Quake
Who says it didn't? First time I'm hearing that...according to your theory Forbidden West should have done incredible sales built off of Zero Dawn
You keep saying the sales were less but:after the lukewarm sales of Dark Ages I wouldn't be surprised to see Bethesda move on to Quake...they completed their Doom trilogy and now it's time for the modern Quake trilogy
only reason i played, as i was not plopping down $90 after eternal...Dark Ages was available first day on GamePass
You keep saying the sales were less but:
this says otherwise.
Also Dark Ages was available first day on GamePass which I’m sure lowered the sales numbers.

Forbidden West sold 65% fewer copies compared to Zero Dawn. 8.4 million to 24 million. Of course, Horizon Dawn's numbers are complicated by the fact it was bundled with consoles for a long period of time.Who says it didn't? First time I'm hearing that.
That's misleading, the 8.4 million is the only available sales figure they released and it's from 2023, roughly one year after release of the game. There has been no updates since then. So in it's first year it actually outsold Zero Dawn. It fell off after that, which is understandable since the game was kind of crap.Forbidden West sold 65% fewer copies compared to Zero Dawn. 8.4 million to 24 million.
