Oh no! Won't somebody please think of the virtual dogs? Whether you like this app or not, you have laugh at the developers' comments about Angry Birds:

While dozens of people have posted comments on the company's website calling for the game to be banned the makers responded by referencing the app "Angry Birds," saying: "just go slingshot some virtual birds to kill some virtual pigs."

Next thing you know, people will attack filmmakers in action movies to protect the artificial lives of make-believe people, because they have rights, too!

argh, only more bitching from lawmakers to ensue. Saying that we already have sex games and 10000000x games about killing Germans/Russions, nothing good can come of this, lol.

Dgo fighting? So it's like Mortal Kombat with dogs? Does it have a perk system where you can you pump up your dogs with steroids and painkillers?

Well, apparently been yanked already. I can't find it on the market place. Will be downloading it the moment it is available on their website you can bet..mostly just to piss all the whiners off.

In Oblivion, you can kill humans and horses and dogs.... but what if dogs kill dogs!!!!! NOoooooooooooooo!!!! The kids might do it at home!

In many video games (dammit Bethesda) you HAVE to kill some sort of dog (feral types, wolves, the other crazed mutant dogs). It's a game. I love dogs as much as anyone, but we (virtually) kill fucking PEOPLE in most of our shooter games, in extremely violent ways...

Actually,I can see the point of people who are protesting this game. There is a difference between games where you have to kill dogs to keep from becoming a hot lunch and a game that pretty much endorses a real life illegal activity that's about as despicable as they come. I'm not saying they should ban it,because censorship like that can be a slippery slope, but it's definitely in bad taste.

As long as they are completely made up animals, like Pokemon, then it's fine.

I killed it in self defense, while I was down it nearly shot me from behind with a red rocket.............

Such a stupid article. Murder is illegal in all 50 states and many people have been sent to jail for it, but is TOTALY LEGAL in video games.

I think it would be hilarious if some company brought out: Dog Fight Manager 2011

You would train the dog with different fighting moves, and raise it's attributes over time with a character point system. The goal being to beat the final dog in the ring.

You would play a trainer named Vichael Mick.

OMG OMG OMG.....this is the GREATEST idea ever. I give mad props to this guy. It probably was not intentional but talk about some awesome PR. I am not sure what happened but it does not appear it was forcefully removed from the andriod market. It did 100k downloads. Genius.

Almost every game is in poor taste by one persons standards or another.

Yet you probably have no problem playing a FPS.

Its interesting how animal lovers have different standards for humans.

I understand the "fantasy" aspect and the correlation to other games where we kill virtual people, etc. However, in the context of most of those games, you aren't doing something illegal (GTA et al being notable exceptions, of course, each with their own controversy). FPS' where you kill people generally involve war. War is legal. Other times, you're killing orcs or dragons or other fantastical creatures, which clearly separates the game from reality and there's no law against that either. In this case, you're emulating a real-life, illegal activity.

Would people be upset at a game which had you being a drug dealer who had to kill border patrols? Or a game where you were a mafioso or drug lord and the object of the game was to kill cops? What about a game where the sole object was to rape women... or children? Would anyone have an issue with these games?

I know I would.

This is bad, but virtual hunting games are okay? Killing bambi is okay vs killing fido (although Rogers already did that).

Wasn't there a game where you could be a deer that goes after hunters? Wasn't there an outcry from outdoors people about that game?

When I read dog fighting I was thinking of with airplanes and the dog fights they used to have.

There's a game for almost every situation you just mentioned. Just off the top of my head: Scarface, Mafia 1 and 2, most of the GTA series, Rapelay, and so on.

IMO if people want to be outraged more power to em. We've all been on the internet long enough to know that ANYTHING can offend ANYONE(and it usually does). I've never heard of this game until now and I have no desire to bother with it after finding out just to "stick it to the whiners".

Its all up to the game creators at this point in whether they capitulate to the outrage or not. Drawing the angry birds parallel isn't going to help them at all though IMO.

I gotta make an exception here. Dog fighting is a serious problem in the US to the point that cities are banning the breeding of certain dogs. When Dog fighting is a thing of the past or at least a less rampant crime I'd be ok with stupidity like this but I do volunteer work for the humane society and have to see tortured and abused animals everyday. It's not funny. Crap like this needs to go until we get this situation under control.

You cannot make an exception because its a slippery slope. Once you get one exception, it just keeps moving forward.

PETA want all pit bulls and similar breeds eradicated so they don't have much of a leg to stand on.

PETA is full of shit. Tons of their members take insulin which was brought to market with the help of animal testing. Seems like a double standard to me.

"acceptable behavior that somehow is to be emulated or respected...."

because everyone knows shooter games result in people getting killed.
now think about the poor puppies...

Yeah, look at all the great things humans have done for the planet since they came along.
Maybe they hold them to higher standards because they're supposed to have standards. Animals only have instinct to go on,we're supposed to be intelligent enough to know right from wrong, although we seem to be awfully slow learners in that respect.

ugh very little annoys me more than people who whine over stuff like this... makes me want to go kick a puppy
