That's your current system? Is it lacking performance in anything you do? If not, then leave it as is. If its lacking, when?

One question, though... you have 3x2GB of RAM on a dual channel board?

Save some money by getting windows 7 professional 64bit. the ONLY improvements with ultimate is that you can use lots of different languages(27 I think... might be a little off) and something called: BitLocker - Helps protect data on your PC and portable storage devices against loss or theft

Besides adding a SSD, there's very very little reason for you doing any sort of upgrades on that rig for the usage scenario you've described.

Windows 7 Ultimate has support for 35 different languages, and BitLocker is simply drive encryption software similar to the freeware-based TrueCrypt. It also has Windows XP Mode (with a free copy of Virtual PC, which you would have to download) and Remote Desktop connection, features that are also part of Windows 7 Professional. You can replicate the effects of Windows XP Mode and BitLocker on Windows 7 Home Premium using freeware alternatives (Virtual PC 2005 and TrueCrypt, respectively), so unless you need 35-language support and/or remote desktop access, stick with Windows 7 Home Premium.
