I was wondering if there is any benifit of having your ram in certain DIMM Slots? I originally had 512MB(1 stick) in dimm 1. I just got my mushkin 1gig(2 sticks of 512) and I have the ram in Dimm 1 and 2. In my mobo manual it says for pc 3200 you should put it in dimm 3 and 2 but I have pc3500. I was also told you should keep ram in the same spot you took it out of.

Sooo, will I get better performance w/ my ram in diff slots? I'm OCing btw if that helps.

you generally will not gain performance from using a certain ram slot, some people have had higher oc's using a certain ram slot though, I think that this has to do with the trace lengths being shorter or longer on some slots..... personally I have never seen a gain or loss from using a certain ram slot

performance, no, but it can make a definately make difference in terms of stability. read the manual and put the memory into the recommended slots. back in the pc133 days i had 2 sticks, a 128 and a 64. they would both run at 150fsb in the first slot, but only the 64MB stick would run at that speed in the second
