Does CnQ lower performance for UD?

I noticed when I have AMD Cool N Quiet enabled, my CPU constantly flucuates in speed even though United Device Agent is running. It is moving from core to core rarely ever using 100 percent before it switches to the other core. My CPU speed goes from 1800mhz to full speed.

Does this slow down folding? Is it better to assign affinity for UD to a single core?

Cool and quiet throttles the CPU to reduce power usage and heat output, when the CPU is idle. If you're folding, you're never idle.

I made a video with my digital camera. The quality is low, sorry about that, but it shows what I am trying to explain.

See how neither core max out at 100 percent and the CPU constantly throttles down. This was while running UD and I also had WinAmp TV going as well. UD is constantly being swapped back and forth between the two cores.

Wouldn't you want to be running two copies of ud at the same time? Keep both cores busy. Set the affinity if you can and no more switching.

haha maybe the program is synced for winamp visualizations :p
Hmm...Never considered that. :D

UD doesn't support running two instances, but there is a tweaking program to get that done, but you end up with corrupted work units. More on that in this thread http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1062090&highlight=Tweaker
