Hello all! New to the boards here. Found hardforum through the ncase project. Good stuff!

In the market for a slim/tall case for my mini itx build and was looking for one that could take a regular atx psu and a mitx board without something like a fat design like a lian li PC-Q03 (or rosewill/jonsbo u2) or any of the thermaltakes or coolermasters which i see alot of. Couldnt they just make the psu vertically installed and make something more slim line? I'm not looking to put a video card in the comp but instead run a eGPU through a half size pcie internal card

CMadki4's custom itx case is pretty cool, except cant fit a psu. Maybe my only option is to keep my psu outside the comp? I would have a pretty ungainly setup with a eGPU and ePSU

Any suggestions? Maybe such a case doesnt exist.
 
I'm not aware of a case that supports what you are asking for. Most everything that supports an ATX PSU is in a cube form factor.
 
hmm thats what i thought.
i guess my next step is to find a slim tower that accepts both matx and mitx. something like the bitfenix pandora but maybe shorter.
 
If you're not putting in a video card, that does mean that you really don't need an ATX PSU. Not to mention that there are plenty of good quality SFX PSUs out there.

So why do you want an ATX PSU?

A bigger PSU is less efficient than a smaller one if the load isn't somewhere in the 90% range of its capacity. So, since you aren't putting anything in it in excess of what the 450w Silverstone can handle, why bother? It seems like aesthetics are important, so I wouldn't kill the look of a small form factor by sticking a big PSU outside of the case.
 
to answer the why ATX psu question, its mostly for ease and cheapness of replacing it in case something happens. i dont like paying for something that limits me.

Yea i saw that azza case. Downright ugly but maybe ill just get it and spray paint it. Nope dont need cddrive
