Do We Want Fastwrites ON or OFF???

I have a powercolor 9800SE (Softmoded to XT) and my friend has a saphire ultamate edition 9600Pro.
We were wondering after hearing very mixed things do we want fastwrites ON or OFF???

If we should have them off Why
And if we should keep them on Why?
 
The answer has to be "try and see," since some people have problems with Fast Writes enabled, while others don't.
 
I've had this argument with Omega and The Neon Cowboy till I was blue in the teeth.
If it's a feature that my card support's, and it doesnt cause me any instability problem's, then I want it enabled.
I used to not use Omega drivers because he disabled fastwrites.
 
The question is, why enable it? If it provides near to 0% improvement in anything and causes many problems, what is the point? Even if it does support the feature, why enable it when it is only known to cause problems and not much else?

Because it doesnt cause me any problems. Enough people thought it was worthy enough to make it an industry standard, across many platforms, if you want to believe it does nothing, and disable it, then go ahead:)
 
enabling fastwrite gave me a little over a 100 cpu score in 3dmark03. but it didnt make my games run any better than before it was disabled so... i guess turn it on if your games are stable with it on. if not turn it off. what ever makes you happy (on or off) :)
 
Maybe we should all benchmark with it on, then off, and see what we all, or whomever wants to play come up with?

Well usually thats the case with any 1 tweak. On some systems it causes problems, on others it doesnt.

For the radeon 9600's i believe the reccomendation is to leave them on.

All right :D . It doesn't create any for me either, and I also have it enabled. I just like to argue the other side once and a while ;) .
