I've been having a heck of a time deciding on a new CPU for my new computer I will be building soon. I'm looking to spend under 900$ on my rig and the last thing I have come down to really is the motherboard/memory/CPU

I've been directing my interest towards the i5 SB 2500k then I turned my attention to the i7 2600k and then I started having a feeling that..Can i just buy a AMD 1100T and be fine.

I'm looking for cost efficiency and performance here for the most part. This computer will be SOLELY for gaming and maybe some coding (Java/C++ etc) but mainly for some hardcore BF3 gaming and Crysis 2 max graphics at 1440x900 Res with a Radeon HD 6870.

So heres the setup

I will be buying a new Win7 OS and will be using my old Hard Drive/Optical drive mouse/keyboard/moniter and etc. The moniter is not HDMI just DVI.

Im trying my best to stay under 800$

You don't need either the i7-2600K or the X6 1100T for gaming. But I strongly suggest a good third-party CPU cooler if you're planning on overclocking. Do you have one?

Grab one 4GB DDR3 1333 stick; one should be available for around $40, if not less. You don't need DDR3 1600 RAM for overclocking a Sandy Bridge "K" processor as you'll be using the processor's unlocked CPU multiplier, which doesn't touch the memory at all. You won't suffer any noticeable performance loss from going to single channel RAM versus dual-channel; the video card would more than make up for the gaming performance.

Are you grabbing parts from NewEgg? If not, where are you buying parts from?

I'm buying most parts from newegg unless it is cheaper else where. I also live in a town with no store that supplies any of these things. And I'm willing to buy a after market CPU cooler

See I never knew that the resoulution would matter that much I guess. But what are some suggestions to cut down cost?

Danny I plan to build this computer within the month or next month

Go for a Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, or XFX branded HD 6870 due the better customer support and longer warranty that those companies have over HIS.

PSU wise, get the V2 version of the 650TX as it's of greater quality yet costs the same:
$90 - Corsair 650TX V2 650W PSU

Go for this RAM and you'll be fine:
$37 - G.Skill Ripjaw Series F3-10666CL9S-4GBRL 4GB DDR3 1333 RAM

i think you should seriously consider a higher resolution monitor. you really will not be getting the most out of your system at 1440x900. hell that setup with a 2500k would probably come close to maxing out just about everything at 1920x1080. that build with 1440x900 is like putting lance armstrong on a tricycle. sure it will still be fast, but you are limiting the potential.

Have to agree with this. Especially if you are doing some occasional coding you will really notice the differerence and be thankful.
