Do I really need an SSD?

Sure thing.

-Crucial M4
-Crucial M500
-Plextor M5M
-Intel 525

I've included Intel and, while they are very good drives, they are about 50% more money than the others. Out of those I listed, I would flip a coin between the M4 and M5M (or grab whichever of the two is cheapest).

Having tested all of these in the Lab i'm in I can honestly tell you that the plextor is the best buy in that short list. It runs the coolest, has the highest performance and is unaffected by data type (compressible vs incompressible).

Since this laptop does'nt come with optical drive or any Windows 8 DVD, all it has is D drive partitioned with restore. So how can I install windows in my SSD?

So how can I install windows in my SSD?

Several ways. You could clone the current disk to an SSD on a PC. Or put the current drive in a external USB3 dock and clone it on the same PC using clone software on a bootable USB stick.

Isn't there a way to get your current license from your current install, then download the windows version from MS, install it and put your license back in?

Get the Apricorn USB 3.0 to SATA cable kit plus an mSATA to SATA adapter and do a 1:1 clone before installing the SSD. :)

I'm just going to go for brutal honesty here. From the tone of the OP's postings, he/she either needs to take some time to sit down and learn how all of this stuff works, else just pay someone else to setup the SSD for him.

I'm not trying to crap on anyone here, just suggesting the path with the least potential for problems.

But of course.

If you can get your budget up another $50, you can often find the Plextor M5S 256GB ~ $150ish at Microcenter (in store, gotta have one close tho).

Now my friends told me that this doesn't have an SSD, therefore I won't be able to use the full potential of this power 4th generation Haswell. So do I really need an SSD for these purpose? I know that if i replace the original HDD or RAM, it will void the warranty. But in case anything happens to the laptop and I have to take it to the service centre, I can always replace the original component before taking it to service centre.

What is your suggestion?

Save your money.
