Do 8K videos viewed in 4K look better than regular 4K?

This is just in Chrome watching YouTube videos that were filmed in 8k. So I haven't watched any 8k videos downscaled anywhere else. So anyone notice the 8k vids played in 4k on your 4k screen look better than plain 4k vids? Or maybe I'm just thinking it looks better. I select the 4k resolution in YouTube because the 8k option is too slow and choppy on my system.

I have a Samsung 32" ips 4k monitor running on a Titan Xp and i7 6700 3.4ghz. Oh and if anyone happens to have an 8k monitor feel free to comment if 8k vids look better on it than on a 4k monitor/screen.

Granted he's talking about 1080p vs 4k uploads, but I'm sure it's the same case for 8k vs 4k.
 
Use Edge if you have a 1000-series GPU. It's the only browser that currently supports hardware-accelerated 8K playback.
Downsampling video generally looks best, especially when streaming.
 
Depends if the original videos have enough bitrate to match the claimed resolution.
a 4K video might not look any better than 1080p when the bitrate is low.
Then for sure an 8K video with a higher bitrate will look better, even at 4K.
Online streaming can be a right bag o' shite.
 
will likely be sharper, and most streaming sites support higher bitrate for higher resolutions. For 1080p youtube is like 8Mbps while 4k is 40Mbps.
