Divx Plus Converter Freezing?

Hi everyone

I'm trying to use Divx Plus Converter to convert my ripped dvd's to a usable file. I've tried converting to 1080p and 720p but no matter what I try it seems to get stuck at 97% and not move. Processor usage drops to 0 also. Does anyone know why this is or know of a free program that could get this done?
 
Handbrake, though with only a dual core, it make take... well... as long as Divx, but with much better options :)
 
I gave Handbrake a test run. It worked good but like you said it took a while with my old dual core. I'm fine with that though. I just leave it run over night. I thank you for your help!
