i got my new monitor, and it came with a displayport cable. what can i expect when using it instead of the normal dvi connection? (and i know i have to have the video card connection also!)![]()

They will all be obsolete when lightpeak comes along. What we need is one standard low latency interconnect like lightpeak, and then one standard low latency wireless interconnect for devices (displays too) and networking. I'm sure laptops could get even smaller beaming wireless signals from mb to screen/touchpad/keyboard. But I'll just have to dream for at least the next 5 years.

That has no bearing on the OP's question. As exciting as LP is, it's irrelevant. Furthermore, most information to date touts the benefits of LP's physical properties, as no protocols, connectors, or compatibility have been defined.
