I just picked up a second Samsung 204B from the FS/FT forum here. It's a great monitor, the problem is that the new one is definitely better than my old one.

The color on my new one seems to be, at least to my eyes, more accurate than my older monitor. I tried using the OSD and supplied software to match them up, to no avail. I don't know much about this subject, so I was pretty much guessing. I did make some progress, but not much. The new monitor seems to be slightly colder than the old one. The biggest difference is the color white. It looks like an off-white on my older panel, much like you'd expect to see a white wall look like in a smoker's house.

I've been thinking about getting Display Mate for it because after several hours of use I begin to develop a headache. If there are any tips or advice you could give me, I'd definitely appreciate it.

Thanks,

-Nate

For the price I would recommend the Spyder2express. You can find it for just under $70. This will set your geryscale and gamma. There is also free software out there that uses the Spyder puck to calibrate other displays such as a TV or give you more control over the Spyder settings. I used it on my Dell 2007wfp. It didn't actually need many changes. The PC Normal mode was about 7500K. The default PC Custom mode, that I was using, was 6500K on the dot. Just some Gamma adjustments. I also did a cheap Tyrus LCD for my son. It was way off before calibration on its 6500K mode and couldn't be fixed with the OSD settings. It looked much better after calibration.
