Diskeeper 2011 for SSD

Defraggler does the same thing (meaning free space defragmentation), it's free... so does pretty much any defragmentation utility you can find, whether it's free or straight commercial software.

Defragmenting an SSD is effectively unnecessary in today's age as every cell/sector of storage can be accessed at pretty much the same speed unlike physical hard drives. While you can still do it, there's really no point in it - even a huge file fragmented into a few thousand pieces would only have a negligible effect on performance when being read since the access times are consistent.

Yeah, it helps but, really... it's just moving stuff around on the SSD that doesn't really require being moved around and putting more wear and tear on the cells with no really tangible benefits.

Leave it alone still applies, even in this situation...

I was wondering the same thing about Diskeeper 2011 for my RevoDrive X2, but OCZ does not recommend it at all.

My opinion on diskeeper is it's pretty much a waste of money, especially the ssd stuff they added on recently. Plenty of free, high speed defragmenters out there for spinning drives, and all ssd's need is trim once in a while. The diskeeper ssd thing might have been effective on first generation drives without trim or GC capability, but it's already out of date with the capabilities of modern SSDs.

Im tyring to set up diskeeper to defrag raptor I just spoke with condusiv and hes trying to sell me hyperfast for ssd
I want no action from DK on my ssd and ill go freeware if it wont leave my ssd alone
Wwill see after ssd is installed

Defraggers are not needed anymore. Vista and up do it automatically and also leave the SSD alone. If your running XP then why are you even bothering with a SSD, upgrade already

Leave your SSD alone, only install the tools that came with your drive, that is all they need. period. Anything else will only hurt your drive.

I've love for these companies to explain how their software is defragging an SSD when the drive firmware hides the physical layout of the data on the disk.

as would i, but it wouldnt' matter as many people will still download it and claim MASSIVE performance increases!

Well, it's a highly complicated process. Our software engineers have come up with a technique truly revolutionary that will boost SSD performance the same way our product does to HDD's. Using an extremely complicated algorithm known internally as TRIM *copyright* (no relation to T.R.I.M.), we've been able to institute a process to reallocate the file system specifically targeted toward Solid-State Devices.

Using this newly developed algorithm, we've enable a TRIM on demand for the discounted price of $29.99 (originally $49.99) due to rising popularity, the holidays, and in anticipation for the launch of Windows 8.

I assume you'd get an answer something like that. Full of bullshit.

One of the things I never do is to speak negatively about something unless I've tried it.

It kinda makes you look like a know-it-all when in reality you know nothing and makes it difficult to believe anything else you say.

That being said I have used it on my SSD RAID0 setup and found no difference.
