I just wanted to know if this is possible. From my soundblaster audio card, a male digital plug, to a male aux to hook up to my home reciever, which sounds better then my 2.1 logitech system(weird huh :p ). Its not a big deal if I cant, but I would really really like it if someone could link me to a cord. If such thing exists..and it would need to be like 15 feet :D

Oh, its do'able, but it requires another piece of equipment (a digital to analog converter... DAC).

The reason you can't do this with just a cable is that, ditial ouputs only 0's and 1's. but on most receivers, AUX takes analog as input (variable voltage, not just on/off).

Does your receiver have a spare "digital coaxial" input? If so, you might be able to plug it into that and then set your "AUX" to a digital input (the one you plugged it into).

~Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply. Can you link me to a affordable DAC?
Sorry, but I don't know of any cheap stand alone DAC's. You could build one, but the cheapest pre built one I saw online was around 130$, and heck..... for that price you can almost buy a new receiver with a built in DAC.

Maybe other's can help you out here.

I found my Entech DAC on ebay for about $65 (if you can find them anymore) You can find Audio Alchemy DAC's for pretty cheap too. However.. towert7 is right.. for a few bucks more you could get the Onkyo deal that's floating around for $80 or so.. and use it for audio switching if you add more digital audio devices like a dvd player, xbox, etc. Another thing to keep in mind that most cheap external dacs are plain stereo and can't handle 5.1 (if you are going feed your dac from a DDL card down the road)

Here is a link for a 5.1 Onkyo refurb for $89 (I think the other Onkyo deal I saw was just a stereo reciever)

Thanks for all the help guys. That system looks like a killer deal, i'll keep it in mind. Thanks a lot, and I think $130 for a external DACs a little much.
