I can't figure out whats causing the problem.

The mouse would freeze for 10-20sec then goes back to normal again. This usually happens when I'm on Youtube but I'm thinking its just a coincidence. The speakers would buzz like the system hanged. Everything then back to normal again.

I tried changing to different USB ports for the mouse but no dice.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

I'm running XP Pro SP2.

Same thing happens to me with a wireless laser mouse. I guess this is the "mouseware" acting. Do you have non-XP mouseware controlling your mouse?

Wired. Logitech G1

Same thing happened to my old Microsoft Intellimouse.

Could be Flashplayer? I know it was giving me hell with [H] at first then started moving to more and more sites with flash ads or content (YouTube especially).

 It happened again but this time I wasn't using the browser at all so its not flash related.

Ran process explorer and couldn't find anything that seems malicious or unknown.

Make sure you have all the latest dirivers for your hardware installed.

I seem to remember an old eMachines that I was working on that did this. I ended up having to disable the onboard NIC in the BIOS and one of the USB root hubs in Device Manager for it to go away.
