Anybody know of any 680 review that benchmarked the Diablo 3 beta? I know it's gonna run like sc2 but I wanna know what kind of settings/performance I could get I upgraded my 6950 to a 680.

diablo 3 will run on just about any video card, the engine is not very demanding at all.

highest possible in game settings, 1080p, no problem. I haven't tried forcing any settings through the control panel, though.

I believe the 6950 is big big time overkill for D3.Im thinking my old 8800GTX would have no problem running it on max settings.

Decided Im gonna try to max out d3 at 2560 with a 9600gt I have tomorrow

D3 beta runs fine on my GTX460 at 80-90 fps with max settings at 1920x1080

To give you some more perspective I was able to run it at 1080p with most settings on high (no AA) on the integrated gpu on my 2500k and still get 20 fps. so I would say a 6950 is more than sufficent for max settings even on a crazy multi monitor setup.

Crysis 2 with the DX11 Directx 11 Tessellation High Resolution Package is a better modern game to measure the performance ability of the GTX 680.

GTX680 should have no problem with D3.

GTX680 does well at Crysis 2 as well.

D3 really shouldn't have a problem with any high end GPU, since they're locking it to a single monitor. No Surround/Eyefinity :(.

I have a 480 and with everything max in the beta i still get 90+ fps while having a live stream on my 2nd monitor.

Since it's a diablo 3 topic, I was wondering when the beta load why I seem to have low frame rate, but frpas show over like 100 fps?

Some time it also feel choppy even with 100-110 FPS, when there is any kind of fast movement like the barbarian jump.

I was wondering the same thing. It drives me nuts

I was able to max everything on D3 at 1920 x 1200 with a single 5870 @60fps. SC2 is way more demanding the D3. A 680 should be enough max it out even at 2560 x 1600.

It's server lag. movement based abilities like leap are particularly sensitive to it.

It'll play on 3 monitors although its not officially supported. Just set it to fullscreen windowed. I turn on adaptive vsync to get rid of the stuttering. Its a bit glitchy with the pop in on the side screens but I definately like it better. I can target things on the side screens like you can in Titan Quest. Definately an advantage.

I'll wait until it hits retail shelves...Blizzard outright said they were going to lock it down. If it is enabled during the beta stages that's fine and all, but I'll believe it when I see it (retail).

I just ran Diablo 3 on a 7600GT through the Beta Phase. Granted my screen resolution was like 1280 x 720 or something of that nature on a 26'' monitor, but I was able to play just fine nonetheless.

What, this lag happens even on SP content? I don't have a beta invite so I can't really test it for myself...

yup, even playing sp you're still online. As for playing it on a 680, game doesn't really need it. blizzard games aren't all that demanding, played with everything maxed out at 2560x1440 on my old 6950 and a 680, no difference at all.

Hold on just a second. Does "still online" mean Blizzard is just using DRM? Or does "still online" mean you're constantly accessing their servers to get data for the actual game content?

Not liking how a lot of games may just cease working when a company decides to turn off their server some day...

Actual content even SP requires online access. This is why people like me (who played D2 for more than a decade, and at every single lan party they ever attended) only come into Diablo 3 threads to laugh at the few Blizzard Believers still left.

10char.

Oh that blows...looks like I'll be scratching this game off my list of 2012 purchases. At least not unless it hits the $5 bin.

The vast majority of people could care less about the online requirement. I only ever played D1 and D2 online, and I played them for years. I bet most people whining about it will buy the game anyway, even if they won't admit it.

I personally like how it integrates into my battle.net account like WoW and SC2. Even better, if you get banned for being a hacker/spammer now you don't get to play D3 at all. I love it.

Yes, more limitation and control is just what the gaming industry needs. Seriously, where do you people come from?

I admit I'm still considering buying it but I can't say I'm comfortable with the way that Blizzard is handling this.

I like that when it comes to MP content, but for SP it bothers me a lot that you can get banned. I'm all for the basic idea of keeping it fun but no anti-cheat system is perfect -- who knows when a legit gamer is going to get caught in the anti-cheat crossfire.

It feels more like DRM than anything .

You know the place, it's the one where Blizzard isn't going to lose however-many million copies sold because an offline version would be the #1 game on p2p sites for the next 10 years. I mean, you just have to face reality here. They aren't going to give up millions in sales because of some ranting on the internet. With a AAA game like this, where people have been waiting for years to play it, if it's not available on p2p, people will pay the money to play it.

Also, the other fact is, all the people complaining about this same thing on StarCraft2 got over it and quieted down after that game was released. Same thing will happen with Diablo 3. The people bitching will soon be forgotten when all the talk is on the game itself and what everyone is doing. No one is going to care about the online aspect once the game is out, they'll be too busy playing and the naysayers will be ignored and their threads will get no attention. History has already proven me correct.

You won't get banned like that. In 7 years of playing World of Warcraft I never got banned or reported for anything I didn't do, but I saw plenty of people who were cheating get banned.

I will be upset though if they remove the ability to run 3 monitor surround. I can tell it's not really working correctly but it's still nice. I do remember how pissy Blizzard got about resolution hacks on Diablo 2 in the beginning, so it wouldn't surprise me if they lock it down to 1 monitor.

I hope they lock it.

This game magic comes from PvP and eyefinity would break the balance.

I think it should be a choice. If you want to maintain the balance make PvP arenas for multi-monitor users and arenas for single-monitor users. Problem solved and users actually get what they want!

Hardware based requirements for an in game arena? Who would enforce these requirements? I can't see it working at all.

All I'm saying is that if Blizzard is really worried about balance (see Michaelius' post) then they could preserve that balance by using aspect ratio (16:10 v. 48:10) as the key factor in allowing users to access certain arenas.

Otherwise locking D3 down to single monitor is just their way of being lazy and not supporting the multi-monitor gaming trend.

That's certainly a valid opinion, but I would hardly consider multi monitor a trend. Would I be incorrect in guessing that even 5% of gamers using multi monitor setups is an overestimation? The idea is generally to cater to the masses before the niche. (Though I guess WoW has proven otherwise in the past with high end raiding...)

Also, wouldn't people be able to fool the game into thinking they were using single monitor when they are in fact using multi? Like a hack?

*edit* stupid blackberry

I have a GTX 680 and Diablo 3 is next to unplayable for me. I'm not sure what the problem is. It's possible it has to do with Agent.exe, or server lag, but even with an incredibly high frame rate I get very very choppy gameplay.

I hit 230-250 outdoors on max, and 300 indoors. Every 3 feet I walk skips a frame, and every attack pauses the game, only to see bodies 40 feet away after the physics explosion.

I've also started getting frame skips in WoW every few seconds, although much more minor and only with vsync enabled.

Which is funny, because every single game I enable Vsync in I get very laggy movement and it chops way more.

My 580 was the same way, I don't understand what is wrong with my computer. Because I'll run Dirt 3 at 115 Average on Max without Stutter.

D3 is one game I won't be buying but will be playing the off line version.;) WTH does a SP game need to be online for. I play a lot of SC2 and drops &pauses are bad enough but I get MP out of it. Why do you get here?

sc2 is dying. only about 10% are playing as a year ago. Only sold half of sc1 despite being able warez sc1 easy and LAN mode. And besides that you can already find both d3 and sc2 at news servers and torrent sites. Thier anti copy protections backfired as they always do and will for d3 gold. It will be #1 at piratebay. bank on it. So yeah - how about giving consumers what wewant and what built you, not live off past glory and trying to hoard, pigs get fat hogs get slaughtered.
