Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

If you can do a T6 RIFT in 10-15 mins, then you deserve to get 500 shards for your troubles lol

I fired up Diablo 3 the other day after not playing for almost a year, was seeing if the game would work on this DV7 laptop so I could have something to play with in the garage when I wasn't doing anything.

I ended up buying the expansion and played the expansion with my Demon Hunter straight through.
Yesterday I started a Crusader and played the game non-stop for 12 hours, no crashes or issues. Crusader is a fun character, probably my second favorite after the Demon Hunter.
I probably could have gotten more than 40 levels if I played a harder mode since my character was so overpowering after I put large red gems in a everything that was socketed, but I was just playing campaign from start to finish.

The key here is Level 1 T6 rift.

Hmm, I could remote into my computer at home, start up a new character, and just sit in the game if anyone wants to run rifts.

Ok, game is up. In-game name is Parja#1297 if you're not a member of the Clan.

The alternative is just sitting in the Rift It Forward community and joining games for just the RG kill. This gives you anywhere from 50-100 shards for a few minutes of work and possibly 5 keys. Extremely fast

I didn't see it in the patch notes but on the official forums there's outrage over the female barb's leap speed being lengthened to make the male barb. Almost looked like there was more rage over that than eliminating the fury generation off of the earthquakes. Nice to see Blizzard still making undocumented changes.

As far as the people talking about power leveling, if it wasn't fixed the best 2 I found were Miner's Gold in Act 2 and Miser's Will in Act 5. Both are relatively easy enough to run to without dying or dying much. Although Miser's sometimes spawns far away from the WP so it can get risky. Matriarch's Bones and Jar of Souls in Act 1 can also be done without killing anything but your likelihood of dying a lot is pretty high.

Bah, discouraged...... Barely could do t3 before yesterday now barely can do t1. Inconceivable!

noticed elites doing some serious damage to me in t4 now. 30% armor boost - more affix damage - frequency of hits = many near death situations.

I logged in yesterday and started downloading new data. Had no clue a patch was coming.

So far I've played two rifts with my WD and didn't really notice any difference in terms of difficulty (T3). I did manage to get two leg weap plans and my first ever ring of grandeur. Slight elation when that was identified. Hopefully will join a group tonight to try some gambling for set items.

One thing I noticed recently with my Wiz as someone else mentioned; I'm getting set items for other classes. This is only with my Wiz. I got a barb glove (I don't even have a barb in my profile) and Crusader boots. I have never gotten cross class items with my WD or DH. My WD has 3x the play time than the other two combined.

I think they stealth nerfed the level 1 making a t6 game and rifting trick. I just tried and only got 21 blood shards.

Finally finished all of the Acts with a Crusader. RoS definitely makes Diablo III a much better game. Having servers in Australia actually makes the game properly playable now, too.

I'm intrigued by what Tyrael says during the ending. I would love to be able to "choose a side" in an expansion. Which side you take could determine what skills/runes you get between levels 71-80 (assuming the level cap is increased and new skills and runes are available). Imperius is definitely villain-worthy and I can see it being thematically consistent for some of the character classes to be tempted by the demons. For example, the Barbarian could have enough resentment towards the Angels for the destruction of Mount Arreat to turn his anger towards them, and the Crusader could easily be swayed over to the demons since practically everything about Zakarum is defined by corruption. I'm not sure how Blizzard would explain a Demon Hunter becoming demonic, though.

You actually listened/paid attention to the story? :p:D

What aside from the new class makes it a "much better game?" I was disappointed with the game at launch and haven't had a chance to hear whether the new content makes it substantially more worth going back to.

-substantial loot changes
-new paragon leveling system where you will progress as little or as much as you want (no level cap)
-rifts ("random" dungeons which are not always that random)
-gambling
-bounties (quick quests that give you a cache after doing 5 bounties. Caches open up to drop items, potentially legendaries)
-tons of class improvements
-more build diversity but that's because the new loot makes it possible
-"smart drops" where most loot drops based on the class that is playing. No more bows that spawn with strength for example. Well, they can still spawn with strength but it is a very slim chance.
-enchanting

Ugh. The Akkan boots are eluding me. Just need that and I have the 6pc bonus and can use aughilds on my sader. Will almost have 100% cdr for akarats champion. Can't wait!

Thank you for listing it out.

Might have to look into re-downloading/purchasing. :D

This anniversary buff is sweet. Is it just for today or does it last until next week's maintenance?

Also, I've seen some screenshots where people have an extra gray line of text next to each item property that displays the min/max value that item can roll. Is this a mod or is there an option somewhere to display it instead of me having to run to the enchanter every time?

I've been pleased so far with the drops. Actually getting quite a bit of upgraded equipment that you can use right away without having to go buy it from the AH is great.
I just wish I could find a decent weapon for my Crusader. My Scoundrel is using a cool bow, Rain Seeker, with a 23lvl reduction, 503+ vit, +643-815 damage, +5% Damage, 1614.1 dps, 1.4 attack/sec, ignores durability loss, for a lvl 38, by contrast, my Crusader was carrying around only a 270dps weapon at lvl38 using a large red gem. He was stronger than my Crusader for about 15 or so levels.

Even better, it lasts until next Thursday.

Well, you should find some decent rare and legendary drops as you go along. Just keep swapping your biggest ruby into the best thing you can find until you can start stacking some crit chance and get an emerald in there. Nice thing with a 'Sader is you don't need to worry about 1H or 2H since you can just swap out your passive accordingly and still use a shield. If you're really not getting any good drops, you could always try crafting something.

so crit chance and crit damage would be more desirable than strength and raw damage?

I'm leveling a sader right now with this methodology. What's a good leveling build to have? Is there such a thing? I'm currently doing fine speed wise in Torment 1 adventure mode.

Best find was probably:

Strength + Damage is going to be much easier to stack early on and much more effective. Until you get to probably level 50+, it's hard to stack much crit chance and crit damage, and you don't want to be wasting time and gold rerolling stats on stuff until you hit 70.

If you've got good kill speed in T1, you're fine. As you start getting to higher levels and that ruby has less and less of an effect, you'll probably want to lower the difficulty. Basically, just keep tweaking your build to fit your playstyle and the gear you find.

Oh, almost forgot. Find yourself a socketed helm and put the biggest ruby you can in there as well. Up to 41% bonus XP to be had there.

Or you can always see if there's someone available that will let you tag along for some powerleveling fun times.

It's too bad the low level T6 rift thing got fixed. I started up a fresh crusader yesterday for some [H] guys to run rifts and they pretty quickly powerleveled him to 53 just sitting in town.

I thought the Marquis Emerald was the largest stone, was thrilled when they were dropping everywhere, now I see that there are a few more higher ones, like this nice expensive gem,
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/artisan/jeweler/recipe/flawless-royal-emerald

Yup flawless royal is the top tier. Royal and flawless royal both require plans and upgrading Mr. Shen to Level 12, though. You can upgrade gems to flawless imperial with just the Level 12 upgrade. Flawless imperial rubies are good for 220 damage or 37% bonus experience in a helm, so definitely not a bad way to go.

Just be prepared to blow all your gold...

81 Marquise gems + 9.8M gold each
or
27 Imperial games + 4.4M gold each (Imperials being the highest that drop, albeit far less than Marquise)

It's worth it for main stat gems, probably worth it for weapon emerald (although, you can make do with 120% instead of 130% pretty easy), have a hard time justifying more than Flawless Imperial Diamonds for all-res, don't think it's worth ~15 million for 16 extra all res in a 2 socket pants.

If you want to play multiple characters like me, you'll likely have to make some compromises since you can't commit 100% to completely loading up that one char.
