Hello,

I am new to OCing and I am trying it on my old P4 system. I have a DFI LanParty PRO875B with an Intel P4 3.2 Northwood and Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2PT DDR-400 (XMS-3200-C2) memory. PSU is a Corsair 550VX.

I have pushed this to 225FSB stable but can't get any higher.

I have the CPU voltage set up to 1.7 but HWM and CPUZ says it's only running at 1.6
I have DIMM voltage set to 2.9 but again HWM and CPUZ report lower at 2.6

Should I try to up the PCI voltage to 1.6?

What kind of cooling are you using? You're already at 3.6GHz, so unless you've got that chip under water, you're already pretty much at the limit of what it can do. Northwoods typically hit a wall at 3.6GHz without some sort of exotic cooling.
 
HWM and SpeedFan show ~48C at 3.6GHz on load running Prime95 Blend so I am not sure this is a cooling issue. I have an aftermarket all copper cooler (can't remember what it is) and at 3.2 GHZ idle it runs ~26C.

Any other suggestions?
What would upping the PCI voltage do/fix?
If PCI voltage was too log whta would the symptoms be?

If the PCI voltage was too low, then PCI devices might become unstable. However, it should not have any effect on the CPU itself. Does your motherboard have the ability to lock the PCI frequency? If so, you should set it to 33MHz, and then you would not need to raise the voltage at all.
 
Yes, it is locked to 33MHz

I'm going to try other memory as well. I'm looking for some OCZ PC4000 Platinum EB 2x1GB to play with. Still haven't found any (yet). Not enough POSTS to put a Wanted on the FS Forum.
 
You can try more voltage to the CPU, but you're tempting a case of Sudden Northwood Death Syndrome

You could also see if there's a pencil mod for the voltage on the board. Might give you a little more stability with what you set in bios and what you actually see.

I've heard about that and thought I even had it once when my P4P8000-E Deluxe died on me. I have a spare if that happens ;)

You could also see if there's a pencil mod for the voltage on the board. Might give you a little more stability with what you set in bios and what you actually see.

I am not sure what you mean by a "pencil mod"
 
Sometimes you can just "draw" (for lack of a better term) a connection between two spots on the motherboard and it will conduct electricity better. Usually it's to help with things like Vdrop/droop and other voltage issues. I haven't looked into it on an 875 board like that.
