Destiny 2

I know this is off topic, but I can't help myself. I really enjoyed D2 when it first launched on PC and played it pretty regularly for about a year. Fell off and picked it up again when the moon DLC came out. Anyways. I started playing Warframe to check it out. I just prefer it at this point.

Anti-Champion perks for Destiny 2 players, with Edge of Fate specifically highlighting Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, Sidearms, and Hand Cannons. However, players can also pick perks that are a bit more flexible, like an anti-Overload option for Auto Rifles and SMGs or an anti-barrier for Scout and Pulse Rifles.

Sony buying Bungie wasn't too much of a surprise if you think about it. It's literally the same company that saw enough value in Firewalk to buy them for an undisclosed sum because they thought Concord had "Star Wars level" potential. Then it sunk hundreds of millions into Concord's development over eights years thinking it would pay off. Bungie was well in decline from the same things that have plagued other AAA studios by the time Sony bought them. Bungie was a shit show for similar reasons, not the least of which is their CEO cared more about his own salary and classic car collection than doing his job.

Sony Corporation of America is horrible... I'm hoping they get nuked just like all of the other Western versions are lately.

As stupid as I think some of these crossovers are, i kinda want to get this.

Feedback consensus (without defying NDAs) is: It's still Destiny. Doesn't overdo the SW stuff. Overall takes steps in the right direction.

Factions and light sabers. I am looking forward to it.

They are doing anything they can to win back players given the player base is bailing in droves. Of course, like a lot of companies that are out of touch, they aren't addressing the real problems that people have with the game.

Each time ive tried to come back i have no idea wtf im supposed to be doing and get frustrated and quit haha.

I used to play a lot of Destiny 2. Looks like they continue to put bigger hats on a gunshot victim.

Same here. Looks great wherever I explore, but I hate that old content like Mars (original areas) & Titan (my fave) are gone.

I basically find myself agreeing with the above consensus. It's fun.

I loved this game when it first came to pc. Tried to get back into it last year and was just like “wtf?”. There are so many mechanics and stuff that it’s just overwhelming. Navigating the DLC is an absolute nightmare.

I'd buy it if it ran on Linux rightly. Played a fair bit on the Series X before I decided <an unholy amount of expletives> about Microsoft.

Can they just make Destiny 3 already with an actual clean slate because whatever they have here is beyond a cluster fuck at this point it seems
That was exactly what Bungie said 10 years ago, they had to make D2 because D1's codebase was a house of cards mess and it wouldn't happen again. Spoiler: it happened again.

Now we're seeing the problem is Bungie itself, who are incapable of any kind of long term development and planning, and incompetent at onboarding players into a coherent gameplay loop. When I heard Sony bought them for 3.6bil I was shocked. No one told Sony: hey, this company is a worthless mess, hanging on by a thread due to their reputation of a couple games they made 20-25 years ago. The 'Destiny' brand name is the only thing of worth Bungie has, and Sony should have bought the brand name alone and nothing else, then assigned a competent developer to make D3.

Sony got fleeced, and are going to have to write off a 4bil loss (as marathon is projected to be dead by year end).

Destiny 2: Every End is a New Beginning

3h - Bungie

For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2.
As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio.
Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to.
We're proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us.
From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.

Destiny 2 is officially finished and sent to maintenance mode. No surprise. Just a shame this all went. June 9 is the release of the last bit of content and then it's done.

The only new beginning for Bungie is the coming layoffs.

This really makes me sad the more I think about it. I loved the music, the environments the story (most of the time, but not recent years), gunplay and content variety.

Deleting large amount of content really sent the game downhill for me. I only returned for Witch Queen but follow up content was poor so that was short lived.

Every new content addition was just not enjoyable for me, so I finally quit and haven't touch it since.

I have some good memories of playing this game, and some not so good. I wished the game could have returned to what it was but it seemed the leadership could not or would not make the decisions to do that. The art and sound were always top notch imo. I still listen to the OST.

Wonder how long before it gets 100% shutdown. WIll never happen but wish we could get a local run version, at least for some pve.
