Please do!Mind if I get in on that? 51, and only act half my age some of the time.
Please do!
Have questions if nobody minds.
I just figured out yesterday, that I could drop a healing dome on the ground. Had no idea this ability / mechanic existed. This game sucks at training.
- I seem to be stuck at Score 900. Maybe it is because I'm running through the campaign missions, but nothing higher than that is dropping. Do I need to do anything in particular to get 900+ drops, or do I just need to wade through the campaign and then go find Tier 2 and up activities for the higher level drops.
- Every now and then a blue bar appear at the bottom of my screen, typically after I melee or multi-kill, what is this and what does it do?
.
They say the soft cap is 900, but this isn't really true. You can get powerful rewards pretty easily and go beyond that. Not only that, Prime engrams will always increment upwards anyway. The real soft cap is 950. After that, power is gained by your seasonal artifact and pinnacle gear. Pinnacle gear rewards do go above 950. I'm currently at 964. Gear is 950 with a few 951's and +14 on my artifact.
It depends on your definition of softcap, i suppose. Bungie has always defined the cap before you have to specifically do Powerful Reward drops as the "softcap" even if you get there easily.
Doesn't really matter either way.
The strike for the Leviathan's Breath bow was a pain in the ass with blueberries. With my normal fireteam it was certainly more challenging than it usually is, but accomplished easily and quickly enough.
Good god i wish we were paying attention and just burned the boss down instantly. Allowing him to move then having to endure that boss room was... fun? Don't stop moving!

Heroic story missions (no reward), Vanguard Strikes (Powerful Reward for completing 3 using the elemental subclass for that week), Nightfall Ordeals (Powerful gear for completions and another for 100k score) and regular Nightfalls (I don't think they reward Powerful anymore but I haven't looked in weeks).
Say you decide to do the three Strikes, when you click that playlist, on the bottom left will be the modifiers which can change. The left most one will be Solar, Arc or Void. Ensure you're on a subclass matching that and complete the 3 strikes to get a powerful reward.
Coming from Forsaken and jumping into Shadowkeep that armor isn’t too bad statwise up to the 900 point. And as a titan I thought it looked pretty good actually. There is a lot more hideous Titan armor available. Like that Phoenix Strife chest piece. Hideous. You can equip Dreambane mods on your other gear so you don't have to look at that hideous Dreambane set which often has a very low stat budget. I don't think I've ever seen any pieces that broke 55 stat points. Its basically junk.

It's hideous. It's a ghetto space suit that looks like it was taken off an astronaut skeleton. The stats on pre-Shadowkeep armor is pretty awful in most cases. You'll see around 36 stat points compared to 48 and above for Shadowkeep armor. Dreambane usually tops out at 48-53. You can get at least as high as 60 without adding any mods to Iron Banner sets, raid armor, crucible armor etc.

Thanks for the help, all... this really is useful.
When you say "Subclass", what exactly does that mean? Do I have to equip all Void gear and weapons to do a Void Strike? I'm using a Warlock, so I thought all his abilities were the purple circle thing (that I've come to understand means Void). Does he have the ability to switch abilities to Arc & Solar? If so, how? I will try and look this up in the interim.
Also, do any 3 Strikes count, or does the activity automatically line up 3? I've only done a couple and they were part of intro missions. Sorry for the stupid questions, so far I've just been running around doing Intro and Campaign missions on each planet, and usually getting distracted and doing the Planet's various activities. There is a lot of the game I have not tried out yet, especially if it is PvP related.
You can increase the point value with mods?
To be clear you're talking about Ornaments for changing the physical look. Basically Destiny's "transmog", though not really. The Dreambane mods are mods used in Nightmare hunts.
So the world of Destiny and the Guardians revolve around 3 elements, Arc, Void and Solar. Those would be the subclasses. Now, within each elemental subclass you can switch up to 3 variations. Lets take your Warlock for example. If you the big purple thing in your character menu right above your primary weapon, it'll take you to your Void configuration screen. This screen is split up into the left and the right. The right will have options for your grenade, your jump and your rift (class ability). The right will have which variation of the Void subclass you want to run. There will be three of these if you have them all unlocked and they're commonly referred to as "top tree, middle tree and bottom tree". You'll see each "tree" has 4 "perks" that you'll want to read through, take note of and experiment with to find out what you like and don't like. Some are more popular than others, PvE vs PvP, etc...
These elements come into play for doing 3 strikes for a powerful reward each week. They're commonly referred to the "singe" or "burn" of the week. For doing the 3 strikes, you just need to make sure you match the elemental subclass. To change it, instead of clicking your Void subclass to adjust it, you'll just need to hover over it and select either the light blue "Arc" or red "solar" icon. Then, you can go into it and select different abilities and variations to suit your activity. Your weapons don't have any effect on this directly (see below) and you can use whatever you want, however you'll want to pay attention to the bounties you pick up if they want you to use something specific.
Regarding weapons, technically speaking each weeks "singe" will affect weapons that match that type which is both good and bad. Weapons that match it will do more damage but enemy weapons that use that element will also do more damage to you. In a Vanguard strike, this doesn't matter all that much but it will later down the line with more challenging content.
Yes, with for example a Resilience mod.
I've done many Pinnacle reward activities and the most i've personally seen base is 64. The most i've heard others getting is 68-69 so 80 is just nuts pre-mods. If that's the case I'm colossally unlocky.
Yeah I used the full set to get the 10 pubs done wearing the Dreambane armor and that's about all I used it for, the stats are quite weak.
Everyone I've seen claim to have base 70 stats on their armor is using a mod to get there. Everytime I inspect them, I see the resilience or strength mods on the gear. I've never seen anything with an actual base stat allocation over 62.
So the world of Destiny and the Guardians revolve around 3 elements, Arc, Void and Solar...

Where can I find these daily heroic missions I keep hearing about?
Where can I find these daily heroic missions I keep hearing about?
Well I har to finish the Campaign before I could do the Vex Offensive, but did that, ran it 3 times, moved my score up 3 (909 now). Did some PvP, because apparently to get the Void SMG everyone recommends, I need 2600 points in there.
Started building a Void Warlock build around the Hunger subset that feeds you health with each kill. Liking that a lot, fits nicely into my play style, that is so long as I have trash mobs to keep me topped off.
More questions:
Thanks again for the help. Outter Worlds just came out, so I may be distracted for a bit. I shant be long (most likely).
- I have several quests stored up that look to reward Exotics. I've been saving them for Score 950 in the hopes they are awarded at my current level, not the level they were issued at. Can anyone confirm or deny that?
- I'm hearing about Tokens I can turn in for rank, are these the items we give to Vendors to increase our reputation with them, or something else? My inventory is full of stuff I have no clue what to do with. I know a lot of it is crafting materials, but I don't know what I should be trading off and what I should be hanging onto.
To add to this, some of the exotic quests can be a bit of a grind. Even if you wanted to wait till you were closer to 950 it would be worth it to start making progress now. There’s actually another part to earning Recluse (the void smg) that no one ever mentions: win 100 crucible matches. No one ever mentions it because it’s retroactive, and basically anyone that has played for a bit already had that box checked. Since you’re new, though, it definitely affects you. Also, the 2100 points you need are Glory (aka ranked pvp). Make sure you are doing the ranked matches and not just the unranked ones. Unranked games award Valor instead, and they won’t count toward the quest.
As far as exotic quests go, they will give you the item at your current level. It’s not a big deal, though. You can always infuse exotics that you like up to max level once you’re there, so I wouldn’t worry about waiting until then if you don’t want.
Tokens are rewarded from Crucible and Vanguard activities. You can turn them into Shaxx and Zavala, respectively, to get a random armor or weapon that is slightly below your level. Each of them has their own loot pool. It’s more for trying to get better rolls on items than actual leveling.

That is a bummer. I will likely never get it then. Besides being in my 50's and too slow to truly compete, I'm using a 60Hz 4k monitor, so my hardware does not favor twitch shooters. I'm sure I could work my way up to the middle of the pack in time, was fairly decent at HL, UT, BF & CoD 'back in the day', but I doubt I would last to the end of the grind. Couple weeks in and I'd be bailing.
I don't supoose there is a comparable Void weapon for a Hunger build?
The new solo Survival (comp) playlist is much more forgiving than the old playlist.
As for a comparable weapon, nothing really compares to The Recluse, sadly.
