If you pre-purchased Destiny 2 or were lucky enough to get your hands on a code, you can get into Destiny 2's first episode today. I played through with some older NVIDIA drivers without issue as well as their new drivers that include Destiny 2 support. The games performed very well on the PC, but still seems to very much have that "console feeling" to me. Then again, maybe it is just me.

Check out the video.

Game Ready, Even Before Launch - Destiny 2 Open Beta
We know that you only get one chance to make a first impression, and games are no exception. NVIDIA works hard to make every game’s first impression a good one, even if the game is still in development. NVIDIA has been working with Bungie and Activision to bring the Destiny franchise to PC. With that in mind, we have already released our Game Ready Driver for the open beta of Destiny 2. Game Ready drivers aim to support all major milestones for games meaning we’re always working to bring you the best experience every time you game. As titles continue to evolve with new content and features through patches and DLC, so will our drivers

The "console feeling" is of course because it came directly from a console game. Comparing otherwise is just an exercise is "PC master racism". I played the console version of D1 for years. I played in the D2 console beta and now the PC beta. It feels fluid between the console & PC except I get a much better visual/fluid experience on the PC. In terms of console to PC ports..this probably the best I've ever seen. I'll probably be playing both versions (PC and console) since I move between two different gaming groups.

Is there any cross play? If not, I just don't see this game lasting longer than any other FPS on the PC. The first month will be fine, but then it will be a ghost town afterwards.

There is not. I wouldn't count it out right away though. If the beta is an example of the final game it should be a damn good PC port and Destiny itself is incredibly fun. If Bungie learned from the first game I wouldn't be surprised if the PC version had a good player base going forward. Especially as they do inevitable sales and re-releases as DLC comes out.

You underestimate the appeal of looter shooters.

I just played it on my setup, looks great but the game itself....mehhhhh. I dunno, maybe I'm over this type of game.

Same concerns here, I haven't read anything that says it will do cross play... and since nothing else has successfully done it, I wouldn't assume this will either.

I'll probably pick it up eventually but I'm not pre-ordering.

edit - ah, the answer is NO

http://tankwarroom.com/article/1325/is-destiny-2-cross-platform

"In an interview with Finder, Destiny 2 project lead Mark Noseworthy was asked about whether Bungie had any plans for cross-platform play and replied that there were “No plans.”

Yeah, no. Distro on Battle.net + winning gameplay formula that's been refined over Destiny 1's lifetime = juggernaut guaranteed.

It's easy to fall into the internet hive mindset of declaring every game a failure by default until it proves itself otherwise, or a game doesn't meet perfectly some impossible personal hierarchy of must have features - "wah wah it's dumbed down, it's not hardcore enough etc" - but this game will rake in hundreds of millions.

Looking forward to playing this tonight. Sadly, the beta was released while I was asleep (UTC+9 - Seoul).

This is my first Experience playing Destiny anything. I don't like the floaty jumping that I believe is standard with Bungie games e.g. Halo. Otherwise this game seems like it's gonna be great.

Anyone run into an issue where the game literally freezes solid for about 8 seconds then continues without issue. Playing with a GTX 1080 at 1080p on my Gsync 144hz monitor. I have a buddy with a GTX1050 that is also running into this same issue. It's occasional, but I'd imagine most who have this issue will experience it at least once during a 45 minute playthru.

I'm on the latest Driver with Destiny 2 BETA Support.

I'm curious to see if others are getting this intermittent issue as well.

I liked the first, but I didn't get into it until it already had a couple of expansions under it's belt - maybe a year or so after release. I didn't log hundreds of hours, but I feel like I got my money's worth out of it, and it was still fairly active on the PS4 at the time.

PC tends to be a bit different than console with regard to longevity though.

Original didn't have X-Play between PS4 and XB1, but then again, I don't know of anything that does. I can think of a lot of games that have PS4-PC X-Play though, oddly enough.

Each class has a different style of jump. If you don't like floaty (warlock) then pick hunter. Much more "twitchy jump" but very solid control because of it.

Been playing on an Asus Predator XB32 Gsync 4k at 60fps (using their Vsync 60 option) and 2 x GTX 1080Ti's in SLI, it is the most butter smooth PC game I've ever played, never moved off of 60fps the entire time. I'm extremely impressed by this so far, not much content in the beta but if it turns out to have fun content, I think I'm gonna be hooked.
