Dell UltraSharp 2709W

hmm its interesting that its performed less than the 2707 on the same website?

Could it be worse or not as good? and whats with the input lag? haven't they learned this already from the mass returns of 2408's?

With the opening RRP, it might drop to $900AUS, if so, it should sell rather well.

Is it an IPS panel type? The Cnet review makes no mention of panel type or viewing angles. I've lost faith in their reviews.

According to the specs on Dells site it says that the viewing angles are 178°/178° which technically means IPS but most monitor manufacturers list VA types panels that way in my experience. This is a wait and see. Anyone willing to take the plunge?

I might be, the premier pricing is a good deal. It depends on if the input lag is really that bad.

I've never been a fan of VA type panels. I am too sensitive to the black crush and it gives me a bit of a headache. I keep waiting to replace my jumbo CRT. It's hard to find anything that is a good as my CRT. Only reason why I want to replace it is because I would love to have widescreen and more desk space.

Seems like it has input lag similar to the 2408WFP.

We should play "wait and see" on this one unless someone here has to have it.

If so, please post thoughts when purchased.

Well, I'm stuck on what monitor to get so I may take the plunge with the Dell since no one seems to know anything about the other 27" Dell or the Planar I was looking at.

The price isn't that bad, I could blow 850$ on far worse. If the input lag is that noticeable, return it! :)

Dell doesn't actually make the internals. They just package samsung PVAs which have the worse input lag. That is why there is no improvment and there will be no firmware to fix it.

Also if Cnet noticed it, it must really be bad. They generally don't notice anything.
