Basically it is a bigger U2711.

"Like the U2410, the U3011 is factory color calibrated."
This is an amazing thing.
I just hope they put a game mode which removes the input lag. If they do so, then this will be the perfect monitor.![]()
I just ordered a 3008 this morning...
We don't know the price point. If it's over 1.8k then getting the NEC would actually be cheaper if you buy it from B&H.
I wonder if it will be 16:10 or maybe 16:9 like u2711 because iirc u2711 is only slightly bigger than my 24" 1920x1200.
Anyway 1-2 frame input lag + connectivity options of u2711 and maybe i'll finally have replacement for the two displays i have now.
Almost certainly 16:10. It is going to be using the new LG 30" panel, which is a 16:10 panel.
Will this monitor replace the 3008?
The difference between the 3008WFP and the U3011 are probably not that major anyway so I'd guess that the picture won't change much from ZR30W vs. 3008WFP.
With the main difference that Dell has a scaler, OSD and everything around that and that the HP has no lag but a really wide gamut and not much to do about it.
Maybe the U3011 has 30 bits which will take away the only real advantage of the HP (aside from price), eventhough 30 bits is too cumbersome to be worth it today people always want to be future-proof (even when it doesn't make sense).
I'd say that the scaler+OSD and price is the main points that differentiates them.
specs available as well: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/news_archive/21.htm#dell_u3011
I bet it'll be less than $1800 with the usual Dell 'discount'. Furthermore, since the street price for NEC PA271W is around $1600
