Dell U2410

I bought one too. $485 was too good to pass up and not give it a try. Now I'm waiting on Apple to refresh the MBP lineup.

10% coupon is dead, so I'm glad I jumped on it. As long as I get a non-messed up panel anyway :)

Is there anything special I need to do to get the card reader and USB hub to work on the U2410? Mine is not working...

Did you plug the USB cable from the monitor to your PC to power the hub and card reader?

I'm on my second panel (which is worst that the first) made Feb10 in Mexico and it has a very noticeable magenta cast on the right side, 12 dark sub pixels, and some bleed in the top right side. I intend to send this one back also and give the U2410 one more shot. If the next one is a dud, it’ll be back to the drawing board for me.

I purchased from electronics.liquidation .. Great communication and guaranteed A01's.. 3 year warranty from Dell Retail units.. No Refurb..

I highly recommend this seller. Bought the second monitor from him. Had one bright pixel and back light uniformity issue. I plan to exchange through Dell but the seller went ahead and did it for me. Dell will send out new monitor with return label for the monitor. I don't quite expect this but what a pleasant surprise

And yeah, great communication too. Will probably buy a third from him to complete my eyefinity setup. But I guess this time I just pay extra for pixel check before the guy sends it out

did you ask dell if you could do this? or did they offer this option? that is nice of them imo.

I can believe it passed through QA. Hope you will get a better one this time.

I had the info of the first monitor from the seller so I don't think I will have any issue exchange monitors through Dell.
I ask the seller info for the second one but they said they would help with the exchange which of course I don't have
a problem with.

Thanks to all who posted their flashing A0 -> A1 experience. It really help me out. I waited for over month and final got the nerve to did it. Mainly, I did it to get the button to work. A0, only the on/off and menu button worked for me, the other button works 10% of the times. Still using "Standard" mode, if anyone have any good setting for RGB, much appreciated.

Well i finally broke down and ordered 3 of these for my eyefinity setup and they came in last week. I ordered directly from dell and they are all A1 so i was happy about that. My major complaint is that the buttons tend to work half the time... kind of gets old when you have multiple devices hooked up. If you're not switching inputs or modes its not an issue. Other then that, i do notice my backlight in dark scenes more then my old benq monitors... Overall i am happy with my purchase, eyefinity with these is sick!

has anyone bought from frozentundraelectronics on ebay?

got tired of waiting for hps z monitor and got these. i bought 3 of these from him and i just got them today. they where NIB and A01 models. he is a greater reseller and responds to all messages. he also paid half of the shipping for me (to hawaii). im going to try and transfer the warranty to me tomorrow(order numbers from dell where on the box). I tested them and didnt see any tint issues people are complaining about. stands are rock solid.

how do you guys test to see these tint issues? one of them had one dead pixel bought its not bothering me one bit.

so far, im happy with this monitor. buttons are not giving me problems "yet".

Put a pure white backround on each display and look for discoloration is probably the best way to test for the tinting effect. However many people who bitched about it were infact just noticing the wide color gamut of the U2410 and assuming it was a defect due to how it displayed colors.

If the pure white backround looks solid and white you're good to go.

thats how i checked for dead pixels. everything looked solid white across the whole screen. i was looking at the screen at different angles trying to find the tint too, lol and it was still white. thanks for the tip!

Very nice lady. Just tell her that you have a dead pixel and she will take care of you. She helped me with my replacement and even called to me to confirm that everything is fine.

Hey guys, first question: is this Riza "iza" Porciuncula super-powerlady available for Canadians?! I mean, just in case.

Second question: I have been using my two U2410s for 5 months now, and other than a slightly pink-green tint on one of them, which I haven't bothered to exchange, I still wonder if could do better with something else out there.

The interesting thing is that for some ridiculous reason, I am paying using DELL financing, which I really didn't need, but decided to keep for a while as sort of "insurance policy". So, for the last 5 months I think I have made 5 payments. Interest is obviously very high, so I was thinking about liquidating the total amount now and settle with the screens. But, since I am not 100% happy, I have wondered if it's better to at least send the second monitor that has the tinting issue, ask for it to be flashed with the new firmware for the dithering problem, and hope to get better monitor with no tint at all. What are the chances of this happening??

If, I am not completely satisfied, I supposed that I can as for as many replacements as I want (need)? After all, I haven't paid them yet.

Cheers!

I was thinking of buying the U2410 and was looking to possibly pair 2 monitors on the left and right. Obviously 2 more U2410 will line up nicely, but for a 4:3 monitor, could an owner of a U2410 measure the panel height only? Dell just lists the height with the stand

Was hoping for a 1600x1200 | 1920x1200 | 1600x1200 type of setup

14-3/8" Panel height. I just picked up two of these to go with my 2405 and love them.

I would like to buy on of these today...where would be the best place to get the latest revision ?

www.dell.com

or ebay for slightly better price but dell.com has it for $499 frequently (or anytime really if you call them and ask for that price).

As stated in the thread (many times), Rev 01 only corrects dithering issues in sRGB mode... the tinting is a panel manufacturing/quality control issue that affects many LG IPS panels (including non-Dell IPS monitors).

Should there be any news that LG has fixed the manufacturing and QC problem(s) causing tinting of its IPS (E-IPS and H-IPS?) panels, an update would be most welcome!

Thanks.

Yeah, I would like to know that too as one of the UK eBay resellers (XPSDIrect) is boasting about the fact that this A01 hardware revision is tint free.

So basically this monitor is pile of poo....I'll pass.

Not really, I have 3 and none show any tinting. And if you don't have tinting problems, the monitor is excellent.
I don't want to go though four before I get one that is good...I guess some people are just lucky, wanna sell one :->

More than likely it is just that some people are *unlucky* and end up with tinting problems. I highly, highly doubt that the tinting problem is anywhere near as common as this thread would indicate.

yes, there is a selection sampling bias because this is a technology forum where a disproportionate number of people know about/understand the tinting issue and are going to post about it

Also more people are generally going to spend the time to post and complain than they would spend the time to write up a glowing review.

Unrelated, but who are these resellers. Even if you can talk Dell down to $499 how are these ebayers selling at even cheaper prices, with free sheeping, and eating Ebay + Paypal fees. They must be able to get them for like $400 or something
