Does anyone here use these SANs?

If so can they do async replication?

We have a new site coming online soon and I was looking to get a PS4100 for head office to store databases and user files etc and also have a PS4100 in the second site to do the same I would then like to have full replication at all times between eachother so we then have a DR site in the event of a fire. in theory we are DR for eachother along with the tape backups from each site.

oh We have 100Mbps leased lines at each site.

I'll do a propper SQLIO test later today, the file was too small.

bump

We're in the middle of installing ours- half populated with 900GB drives.

good spot ;)

I assume then its a 4100X with the 2.5" Drives?

What is it going to be used for?

wow... this is poor!

C:\SQLIO>call sqlio -kW -s360 -dD -frandom -o8 -b8 -LS -Fparam.txt
sqlio v1.5.SG
using system counter for latency timings, -1302387296 counts per second
parameter file used: param.txt
file d:\testfile.dat with 2 threads (0-1) using mask 0x0 (0)
2 threads writing for 360 secs to file d:\testfile.dat
using 8KB random IOs
enabling multiple I/Os per thread with 8 outstanding
using specified size: 2000 MB for file: d:\testfile.dat

Avg_Latency(ms): 166
Max_Latency(ms): 20125

That is a Dell R510 4 x 1TB nearline SAS RAID 10

wow I woudl expect a 12 or 24 disk 15K SAS PS4100 would kick its ass!

We've got 12 x 900GB 10k 2.5" SAS drives- this our main production SAN.

We're going with a symmetric RAID50 array, with 2 hot spares.

I'll post our IOPS and some benchmarks once we are up and running.
