Dell E228WFP 22"

dude, thats not on the US or Euro site. It looks like the non ultrasharp 20". 22" usually use a tn panel so...But if this is like the 20" i know some people complained about backlight bleeding and uniformity. Seems like dells really expanding there monitor line. Cant wait till i can get my 2407wfp!!

Thanks . Its on the Canadian site (I'm in Canada) as well as the Aussie etc .
I'm considering the Sammy 225BW anyway so was wondering if this monitor would be just as good . Plus its on sale just after boxing day here in Canada soooooo

Thanks again

Just going by the looks and the specs..that is certainly just a 22" version of the E207 and uses a TN panel. Whether or not it is better than any of the other TN panel 22" monitors I couldn't say..

Thanks . I guess that's what I'm looking for , a comparison of the Dell and other 22's out there (assuming they are all relatively the same tn panel)
The Samsung 225BW goes for around 470 here in Canada but the Dell is 399 and I can get it for less . I have absolutely no idea what the quality is though.

Cheers

Guys, please be aware this is just a 22" model of the Dell "value" brand 20". It has almost zero features, and only the very basic adjustability.

Would it be comparable to the other 22's (quality wise) if only used for internet/games/minor photo stuff ??? I have no plans for a 360 or hooking a dvd to it and having it stripped of those options ,and having a lower price , would interest me provided the panel is just as good as the Samsung 225BW(example) .

I grabbed one. Basic is fine for me, as my current screen is also very basic and I don't mind the lack of options (17" crt).

I think I might grab this. I was originally waiting for the widescreen 20" Samsung, but this is cheaper and larger.

That is exactly what I was going to do, and exactly what I did :)

I just got my Dell E228WFP and i'm very happy with it so far....there is a small amount of backlight bleeding in two strips in the middle top and front, but only for about 1/2" wide...

Other than that, no complaints, it's a very nice monitor all around.....amazing deal at only $299 CDN!

Saw it today at a friends and it looked cheap, washed out colors as well. The 225BW I looked at in future Shop yesterday looked allot crisper, and brighter.just my opinion of
course. We watched the Doom movie on it,and it had horrible banding, and fairly bad bleed as well.My buddy has never had an LCD before so he's happy as a pig in shit, and
knows no better.Ignorance is bliss as they say.Of course I said nothing,as I didnt want to ruin his fun. :D

Your friend probably just needs to do some tweaking....when i first got it up and running, the picture was very washed out and way to warm...but once i changed the default settings and played around with contrast and color, it looks great. Also, you have to remember that this is just a TN panel (the same one that is in all other 22"ers) and hence, it doesn't have the best picture quality, for $299CDN it can't be beat...gaming is perfect, movies are great.... I'd post some pics, but i have not a place to host them :(

Also, if he has banding, then he should consider exchanging it as i have NO banding at all....

As for brightness, out of the box it was only at 75% brightness and it was WAY to bright, so that is not a problem at all. I have it at ~65% and it is way brighter than my CRT ever was....any brighter and it would not be good for hours of study-age...;-)
