Dell customizable desktop

I'm from the old school where Dell would let you customize your desktop.
Now I have to take whatever they offer. The precision will let you customize
somewhat but not completely.
Ex. I want a windows computer without windows 8.
I want a 1tb HD and they only offer 500mb.
They give you Windows Office without ability to say NO etc, etc, etc.

Seems the features that I want come in the $1500 to $2000 price
range and in my opinion this is way to much to pay for a desktop.

Building my own is out of the question.
I just fried two computers playing around with a Pt628 switch.
Hp is not a fit place to buy anything IMHO.

I feel that buying from a mgf. that resides out of this country is a no no.
So what do I do??????
Thanks for any advice/

What country are you in? Did you try going to Dell.com? They let you customize there.

I am in the USA.
I was on the Dell site for hours trying.
As my message stated they do not let you fully customize.
Thanks for responding.

Intel core i5-4590, NO McAfee, 8GB memory, Nvidia graphics card, No Dell backup and recovery
basic, 1T hd, No systems management, No Windows 8 English OS recovery -dvd
There are other things but they are minor. Some things I have no idea what they do.

So I'm not seeing the huge problem here: $1400 to $1500 is a reasonable price to pay for a Dell Precision system with all of the options you've mentioned since it includes a three year warranty and three year next business day support.

If you want better bang for the buck, that means you have to build your own PC. If you want a cheaper prebuilt PC, that usually means lower quality parts and/or a one year warranty at most.

Have you tried craigslist sometimes there good deals on people selling their rig cuz they like to build a new one every year or two.

I don't think Dell lets you dig that deep anymore in terms of customization. It was too easy to start with a fully loaded model and remove nonsense things to get the price down (ram sticks / OS / etc.) - which was where they usually made all their profits. Nowadays they just offer 3 or 4 model trims and only a few things can actually be adjusted (sometimes just GPU and HD sizes).

Try calling them over the phone, you can probably get exactly what you want though you probably won't like the prices (compared to the home machines), seeing how you are shopping the office / corporate side of Dell (Precision line). The Home side is usually where things are discounted more heavily / often.
