I just got this laptop, came with one SSD drive and one empty slot that you can fit in a standard HDD. I'd like to put another SSD into the empty HDD drive, what kind of cable and cage do I need?

You don't need a cable.
As far as a cage - didn't it come with a plastic envelope in the 2.5 slot?
I've changed the M.2 drive on mine for a bigger model, but kept the spindrive.

SSD's like the Samsung 860 EVO should work just fine. Got my a wife the G7 15 7588 and it worked fine. Just need to format it and give it a drive letter. Easy as pie.

a 2.5" drive may or may not work depending upon height. most laptop drives are specs for 9.5mm or thinner
