My boss is starting up a computer repair shop that also sells computers. I want him to setup a system with the Dell 2405fpw. His only problem is, the Dell Logo. He doesn't want to have any sort of advertisement for Dell. I have not seen one of these monitors in person and niether has he.

I want to know, is it easy to hide the Dell Logo without it being obvious?

Not really, its about 1.5 inches wide and sticks out a good 3mm and I dunno if you'll be able to remove it without causing some kinda damage to the outside frame so putting a piece of black tape aint gonna work.

Well you be doing that for all the monitor and system then?

I really don't see the point, what if people want to get that monitor then you'll have to tell them... Well the same thing be done with the samsung, viewsonic, other monitors?

imo, its kinda pointless, but whatever floats your(or in this case your boss?) boat.

I agree, if your that adament about not showing Dell products, don't even resale them.

Oh, and having to use body filler and painting it will get expensive REAL quick

Yeah, that will look REAL professional  Not to mention having to do this for EVERY monitor and EVERY computer, it will become a nice time waster also.

The logo is raised off of the monitor. Not only would you have to sand it down and fill it (which could be expensive enough), but if the buyer has ANY reason to return it (not limited to defect) you'll have even more issues with trying to return the product to Dell after being altered.

I also agree with the above poster, you can't escape advertising for another company. It's gonna be Dell, Viewsonic, or Samsung most likely. Granted your boss might think that "Dell" is his computer building compeditor, but if they're buying a PC from him instead of Dell in the first place, what does it matter?

I would either resell them and just let it go, or don't sell them altogether.

what about the Dell logo that displays on the screen?

.

Ooooooh very good point.

I think you need to tell your boss to change his business planning cause this one aint gonna work.

If he doesn't want to help dell at all then buy a different lcd that you would not mind selling. That way if someone wants it you can sell them one.

Did the OP ever mention that the store would be selling Dell components, or is the 2405 just going to be the monitor for a display system?

If the later case, why not a Post-It note with a grocery list written on it? Or a strategically placed game box or center channel speaker? :D
