I recently installed an xspc full cover water block on my 8800gt. I painstakingly installed it making sure that the screws were not over tightened. I also have nothing but distilled water inside my loop.

Now the problem is that by one of the screws that hold the plastic to the copper, it looks like someone smashed it with a screwdriver, and there is a crack that runs down the face of the block. It is physically impossible to be struck in the location it is in. The unit is not leaking water...for now.

I contacted jab-tech about this but haven't heard anything. Is it possible my unit was defective, and how is jab-tech with customer service?

Sorry no pics, im at work atm.

Acrylic/Plastic tops will stress crack at the screw holes if not tightened properly. I am sure (at least I hope not, there was no reason too) you did not mess the the cover screws. Trouble is if not evenly tightened or if the plastic has some minor flaw. it will stress crack anytime in the future without warning. What I am trying to say is that, I doubt it was you fault unless you messed with those scews, and the crack was going to happen sooner or later and they will be fine when you get the block but can crack anytime in the future. Not all crack, most dont. But it is a fairly common issue. The thicker the plastic the less prone it is to happen and polycarbonate (same stuff a bullet proof glass) is better at not cracking than cast acrylic all other things being equal.

They will probably replace it, let us know.

I most definately DID not mess with those screws. I'll post what happens.
