Alright, I'm looking to build a new computer with SLI, compliments of a MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI.

What's a decent Nvidia videocard that I can buy now and later get a second one.

Thanks everyone, recommendations on other hardware are most welcome as well.

If you look around, you might be able to get that 6800 a little cheaper. If you don't mind getting used stuff, you might look in the forums for a ~$200 6800GT.

i'd still go with the 6600GT. Just look at the stats:

6600GT:
500 MHz Core clock Speed
1000 MHz Mmemory Clock Speed
OpenGL 2.0
128 bit memory bus
128 MB of Memory

6800:
325 MHz Core Clock
600 Memory Clock
OpenGL 1.5
256 bit bus
256 MB of memory

So........... i would get the 6600GT for the fasster clock speeds (and it is $50 less), but if you are going to be moddleing and stuff, instead of much gaming, then i would get the 6800 for the extra memory. so really just preferance, so i leave the choice up to you. :D

NOTE: please correct me if this information is wrong. :(

Yes I am sorry, but the 6800 would whip the 6600gt in everything, and there is even the chance of unlocking the last quad to get near 6800gt speeds. IMO the 6800 is worth the extra cash, but you would be satisfied with a 6600gt.

Please rethink your logic first of all.

The 6800 has lower clock speeds, but is of a different design making it faster than the 6600GT.

The 6800 is a decent OCer too. I had my AGP version to 400mhz without much issue.
