Yes, it is highly unfair. I think they should devalue points over time to cope with inflation, and protect old timers scores. Quite silly that 3 or 4 days of my shiny new machine is considered the same contribution as your 3 years. Insane.

It is as silly as saying Avatar was a bigger film than Gone with the Wind. It wasn't. It just came later.

I fully expect to be mowed by the youngsters in a few years and feel the same way. :rolleyes:

Thing is tho, when it comes to science, your processing power really is that much better. It sucks, but we can't expect things to stay the same over time.

One day SR-2s will no longer be efficient to run, and the new systems that day might do 1mil+ PPD.
 
Q6600 is now at 5251 PPD. Big jump from 500-600.

I briefly ran my farm of 6 Q6600 renderboxes, all overclocked to 3.3- 3.4GHz, and they were doing an average of 6100 ppd. Here are some grabs from the stats folder:
