Dear Santa,

Thank you for the P2686 you sent me. I like them very much. Please put more of them in my stocking.

Please give those poosey P2684's to team 111065, who like them lots.

Thank you for this lovely forum with nice people who help me with things.

And thank you for RAM that works. It is nice to be folding again. :D

You're getting 3057 PPD from a Q6600? I must be doing something wrong as mine doesn't even come close to that.

I must have been really bad this year, judging from the 2684s I am running now...

Many of us would love to have the resources to hit 140k a day but it's people like you that keep {H} competitive and make others like me drool. :)
Keep em coming and fold {H}ard!

Wow........

That just made me drool. Congrats man! Yes, and please Santa send those 2684 and even peskier 670x's to team 111065!

Yeah, the P2686 produces the highest PPD of all WUs on my systems. Too bad they're as rare as a blue moon...

Start a new thread - what's your clock speed?
I get 6-8k PPD on my q9450@3.6, it's even reporting 6413 PPD while chugging a nasty 6701.

Same here, I've been getting a lot of 2684's lately and if it's not those, it's regular a3's.

Is it dedicated? Mine only does 600 PPD. What am I doing wrong?
How many completed WUs did you turn in? You might not have completed 10 WUs with your passkey which is the minimum required before receiving the bonus points.

I've been folding for a month or so now. I think I have over 660 WU's. I also had a 5770 folding. Think that may be the issue?

Was your system always producing at that level? If you have all 4 cores processing the WUs then there's something seriously consuming a lot of CPU cycles away from your SMP client. That's way too low production.

Edit: The GPU could be the reason but it still seems too low for me. Are you sure you're receiving the bonus?

No, I am not sure. From what I can tell, the 5770 took nearly 38% CPU.
Really nothing else running. This Q6600 is @ 3.2 GHz.

KWH, I'm going to repost this from another thread.

Like Zero82z says:

These are the instructions to set up the environment variables for folding on ATI GPUs as was previously mentioned (you'll want to use a FLUSH_INTERVAL of 128 instead, however): http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1419852

Is it a must to install the older driver? I did read this earlier.

Hey KWH, I did the ATI thing, but found out that it is just not worth it. Just run the Q6600.

IMHO the price of Watts, just is not worth the ATI client.

If my Q6600 was doing 4-5k I would agree. I have a 460 on the way to replace this 5770. I would like to know what's holding my CPU back though. It's not a dedicated fold boxen, maybe that and the high use for the 5770 is the problem.

Yep, the ATI card and the fact you are using it for other stuff will kill your SMP PPD.

Did you originally set up the SMP client according to the guide? Try wiping it completely and setting up a fresh copy exactly as the guide instructs.

Yes I did that. I could uninstall and try again but since I use this PC, that and the 5770 may be the issue.

KWH: Are you sure you used the -smp flag when you created the shortcut? It almost sounds like you are running uniprocessor work. Forgetting to use the -smp flag is a common mistake by those new to the SMP client.

It could be, but even with all of that you should be doing more than 300PPD.

\Folding@home-Win32-x86.exe" -smp (from my shortcut)

Yes. I even went back through the set up procedure to make sure I did it right. I can find nothing wrong. *scratched head*

The PPD is now up for the 5770, nearly 3300. Maybe I will try running only the SMP client when I sleep tonight. I have also bumped the Q6600 to 3.4.

Does HFM.NET say you're running an A3 unit? Can you post the project number of the unit you're working on?

Do you have a passkey and have folded 10 A3 WU within the preferred deadline?

your folding with the 5770 on the system with the q6600? thats why your ppd sucks.. 5770 is taking up to many cpu cycles..

That's what I think too.

Yeah, kill the ATI folding. Even if you get the variables set right your PPD will still only be the same as your CPU alone and you will be buring more electricity to do the same amount of work.

It took me 3 years to break 500K and I was in the top 200 folders. :(

Oldie, come back and fold with us again!

Yes, it is highly unfair. I think they should devalue points over time to cope with inflation, and protect old timers scores. Quite silly that 3 or 4 days of my shiny new machine is considered the same contribution as your 3 years. Insane.

It is as silly as saying Avatar was a bigger film than Gone with the Wind. It wasn't. It just came later.

I fully expect to be mowed by the youngsters in a few years and feel the same way.
