Sick of Zombies yet?

If those screen shots are the PC version, can't say I'm very thrilled, major consolites. Never played the first one, heard it was a lot of fun.

Thought most recent Capcom PC ports were pretty well done, but it seems this is a Capcom/Blue Castle Games port, looks like Capcom offloaded #2's development. :(

So what has Blue Castle Games done? - The Bigs, Major League Baseball Front Office Manager and The Bigs 2, Hmmm... may be in for a real treat here.

This is starting to look like a possible bargin binner for me, if at all...

Of course no one has played it yet, so who knows, it may be a great game.

Well the first one has those graphics because it supported at least 1000 Zombie on screen. It's kinda like those 'open game' like GTA that always look less good than other because because of the size of it and number of things at the same time

The first one was fun, but was plague with a extra crappy save game feature.

1 month and a week? F ck yeah!

Oh yeah and OP is a hater

I just played through the first one twice back to back. SO much fun!

Wait a minute. Dead Rising 2 is coming to PC?? This is the first time I'm hearing this. I think that's awesome.

Based off how much I loved the original, this is one of the few pc games I will not be waiting for a sale to purchase.

GFW-Live means I probably have to get it.... Hopefully it has eyefinity support.

For the PC? Nice. Two player coop? Hellz yeah. Another nice bonus is the price at only $40.

I'm quite pleased this is coming to PC. I hardly played my 360 before I sold it, but Dead Rising was one of the handful of games that I really enjoyed and spent a significant amount of time playing. If this is more of the same and to the same high standard then it'll definitely be worth a look for anyone who missed the first game. Dead Rising co-op is a great idea, but I'm hoping that some of the new features will shake up the single player game as well - more of the same probably won't be enough to satisfy those that have played the original game extensively.

This pretty much echoes my thoughts.

Definately will be picking this one up. I loved the concept of the first one, but the further along in the game I got, the more rushed I felt and seemed like I was never going to accomplish any of the goals. Hope they changed it up for the better in that respect.

Some of the goals had unrealistic time constraints as I recall.

Correct. There were many goals that you could not complete unless you completed tasks very quickly in a specific order. At least, that's the way I remember it.

This game will be a perfect accompaniment to that zombie show on Halloween.

The original is one of the games I wanted but couldn't get on the PC. Looking forward to this very much.

On my first play through I only followed about first day worth of cases, and spent the rest of the time screwing off. Running over thousands in the maintenance tunnels, rescuing survivors, goofing off, getting to know the mall and game well. The second playthrough I was around level 33 or so from the get go, and did all the cases and the game felt much more do-able.

It's one of the only game in my entire life that I've been able to playthrough twice in a row and not felt like I was just retracing the steps. Both experiences were very fun, and very different.

I remember the achievement that frustrated me enough to stop playing the game just for the sake of achievements... Frank the Pimp.

The first game was fan-fucking-tastic. Felt like a real zombie game. At E3 this I was excited for more excited about DR2. Left dissapointed, and don't care about the game at all these days. DR1 had this magic thats totally gone in 2. Hopefully reviewers will prove me wrong though, but everything I"ve seen or read just fell by the wayside.

Thanks for pointing this out OP, I'd been banging my head on the wall that there wasn't any updated PC version info for the game, still not on Amazon yet.

Now I just have to decide between this version or the 360. If I knew the graphics were updated for high end systems, I'd want it on PC. On the 360 side, that side-game, I forget the name of it, is going to be out for the 360 next week and I guess you can carry over something from it into DR2 on the 360. Also depending on where I preorder it, the 360 version has some preorder bonuses.

I think I'll just wait until the last minute to order it to hear feedback.

A review for the Xbox 360 exclusive Dead Rising 2: Case Zero has appeared on Eurogamer. This is not the full game, it's a Prologue/demo. That said some of the points raised in this review will be of interest to those who played Dead Rising and hoping that the PC version of the new game is good: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-09-01-dead-rising-2-case-zero-review

There are a couple of disappointements here (still has clunky movement & animation) but the really interesting thing is the combo weapons - they have limited lifespan, so how will that balance with the time limits if you spend time faffing about trying to collect parts and creating interesting combos? The first game was easy enough to finish with the peoper ending, but rescuing all the survivors was extremely hard. Could the sequel be even tougher? I can't see many people chasing all the achievements on this one.

I really wish Case Zero was on the PC or PS3. I'd definitely buy it. With my 360 lacking a power brick and hard drive I really can't buy and download games on it.

I felt the same way. I played the hell out of Dead Rising before I sold my 360. It was one of the few games that I had really liked that I couldn't just play a better version of on the PC.

You can save in bathrooms now. I played a bit of the Case Zero on Xbox and it was the same ol' fun but I'm a bit worried about the time constraints.

It's $40 on Steam so I bought it from there.

but that's the way it works, you need to play and replay to level up the character and then the time limit is less of a problem, but there are still some v. difficult challenges left to get all the achievements. It's deliberately old school and understandably doesn't appeal to everyone. On the otherhand, many gamers complain about lack of challenge, or lack of replay value in modern games. It's easy to complete Dead Rising with persistence, but it's very tough to do everything, in that sense I think it's quite well balanced.

I'm assuming you can just fail the cases like in the first DR, and then you'll get a different ending when the time goes up. aka no need to worry about case timers.

Hey people, the game seems to be unlocked in Steam now. Curse my slow dl speed, at 83%.

I've only played the demo of the first game on the X360, so I do not know very much about this sequel, aside from what I read on IGN's review of the console version.

IGN had some concerns with the console version regarding choppiness, bad character animation, bad looking blood, and slowdown.

Can anyone with the PC version confirm if things are ok, graphics wise? I want to give this game a try...

I know nothing about this series. Would like to try a demo. Is this thing basically a close cousin of the Left 4 Dead games or what?

I haven't played L4D but I suspect not. The 360 crowd seem to prefer Dead Rising if you compare the two games. The basic premise of Dead Rising is that you have this big sandbox of zombies and 72 hours to do whatever you please until rescue arrives. The article on Wikipedia sums it up nicely: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Rising

I don't know if any of this can be considered a deal breaker. The first game didn't have a high frame rate, but it was pretty good fun. I was hoping a some of the usual platform v platfrom faceoff comparisons would answer, but Eurogamer already published theirs and only did 360 v PS3 so far: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-dead-rising-2-faceoff however there is an update coming to include PC performance:

EDIT: PC performance article here

Capcom has yet to play what could be its ace: the PC version of Dead Rising 2 launches on 1st October. In the next couple of days we'll be comparing the code to the PS3 and 360 releases and seeing just how much hardware is required to provide a console-beating experience.

Hmmm, I think I'll be keeping closer tabs on this and you guys in this thread. :)

I'm waiting to see about the performance and the controls on PC (I now feel like a total pillock for selling my wired 360 controller a few months ago) but mostly I want to see how people who played the first one react. It was good, but merely more of the same won't persuade me to buy - if so, probably one for the rainy weekends bargain bin.

Just looking at the UK prices, Steam are doing it for £30 (which is approximate to the full price $50-$60 US releases) but a couple of retailers have it for £20, and the best is £18.
