I noticed that yesterday I finally contributed some points to Prime Sierpinski Problem - PRP. It looks like that's going to be a slow climb.

Oh, I did my taxes over the weekend and I'm getting a state refund, so there might be more D in my future.

At this point I hope I just don't owe.

I got back ~3k last year, now I hope I don't owe 1-2k (what the ruff numbers suggest )

No large amount of "D" in my future.

I was waiting on a few 1099s. :D I'm thinking about building a small form factor Core i7 box.

Ha!

The first thought that I had was:

How can you get a big enough HSF into a SFF case and still OC it to 4+GHz?

:p

I'm sad I know it, but I'm [H]ard at the same time :D

Well I am pretty impressed with the output on my ATI 4850 on MW@home to say the least. If my calculations are correct it seems to be doing about 36K PPD. :D Not too bad. :D

mf0lp - Which ATI cards do you have this running on? I have an 3870 as well but Im not sure if it would run on both cards in the same machine. Do you have any dual card machines?

Well, since I've done mostly NVidia for years and have no idea who's good at ATI cards, how's this MSI 4850 look? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127401 I've had decent luck with their mobos in the past, this is the cheapest after MIR, and comes with free Rainbow 6 Vegas2 as bonus! Gotta follow Alan's lead and look at how the return will be spent - I'm thinking a new dedicated boxen with a quad and a 4850 to start with...

good to see an ATI card actually being used correctly in a distributing program.. finally it can show its true potential..

You freaking slackers. My return is already spent. :p

tell the feds to give me my damn money.. and thankfully this pos state i live in finally passed a budget so im getting my 500 bucks back from state as well.. so grand total of 1685 dollars woot!

hey nice work everyone on primegrid.. moved up over 150+ places in about 5 days.. :p

I'll switch a system over to it.

Sweet more for Primegrid! I am down my main desktop for it right now. I am running a LiveCd but I wont be able to crunch for a little while till I reformat.

I wish I had a ATI for MW@home but my only decent card is a 8800gts.

I believe it goes through Boinc. Here is where to download the app, http://www.zslips.com it has an SSE version and the ATI GPU version. To use the App though you must have a ATI GPU (Works only on recent ATI cards (3800 or 4800 series), do NOT use the later Catalyst 9.2 driver) and have 64bit windows.

I'd have to do a reinstall of a OS to get that working. :(

Sadly the wifes rig (that I could put a 4850 in) will be impossible to get the go ahead to do a reinstall.

metallicafan: I'm running 4850s. Each has it's own box. MW app doesn't support multi-gpu yet.

Kendrak: You only need a 32bit OS, if that helps. However, I had constant VPU recovers under XP32bit. Vista 32bit and 7beta 64bit are running fine for me.

Now if MW@home's server could keep up with my boxen, production will go way up.. I find they are sitting idle alot because the server can't keep up with all the requests for WU.

guess its time for them to get bigger WU's or more of them.. though id go for the bigger ones for more points.. :p

Ugh, I've got over 100 superlink units finished waiting for the server to receive them, and I can't get new work either. One machine already ran out so I switched it back to Yoyo and Cosmology.

The first thought that I had was:

Heh, I've been struggling with that too. :D I want a small system, so I've been planning to go with the Silverstone SUGO, but it's very hard to squeeze a decent HSF in there. Now that I'm ready to buy, I'm starting to lean towards the Qmicra. It'll take a Noctua NH-U12P or even a H2O setup but it's kinda expensive, not to mention out of stock most everywhere. I also considered the NZXT Rogue, but it's just too huge.

well its coming to the end of the month so im shutting boinc down for the next 6 days save a little money.. already shut off my other systems..

also
****************REMINDER******************

SIMAP should be starting up again next month sometime around march 1st.. so do not forget to set your work queue to 10 days on your bionc client when the projects start going out.. we need to make a huge dent in SIMAP..

Overall Team Position: (

Overall Team Score: (

298,306.204810

but we lost 1 place in PEOM and Rosetta..

^^^ Good call on SIMAP. I've got every client set to receive work and a resource share of 250, so I'll be ready. :D

1660 point jump in EulerNet. That's crazy.

Yeah, I figure I'll push yoyo until SIMAP hits, switch over for a week, then go on to whatever weekend raid we choose after SIMAP runs out.

Since there's only 379 teams total on yoyo, it's pretty slow moving - we'll only be able to get another 500 or so easy points, and another 500 or so after that that's doable. Anything over 8000 in the Vault will take some time, though, as anything in the top 85 goes up pretty quick...

Hey tr0ach I see you have the same problem as I do running MJ-12 and Eon at the same time because of the upload bandwidth usages.
It is a hard one to manage that combination but looks like you got it.
Nice work on Eon today tr0ach.

tr0ach can get anything to work. Didn't you know? :D

Malariacontrol.net has test app work running now. I don't know if you guys can signup or create a new team but it looks like they might be back online.

It's still asking for an invitation code to create an account, and of course you need to be logged in to create a team. I'll keep an eye on it in the near future though. Thanks for the heads up.

Watch for LHC to maybe start back up soon. I crunched 2 units today out of the blue like they were test units or something.

i noticed eons been has been sending out WU's at a steady pace lately..
Yeah they been pretty steady lately and in the evening and nighttime (Central Time) is when you can dump and reload your buffer in a hurry.
The days seem pretty slow to upload units back to them but at night they go very fast.

I see you stepped up the your work in Eon today. Nice work.:D

i just leave it running in the background.. usually forget that its on.. only have 1 client running..

Looks like superlink dried up last night, so I've split my systems between 4-5 projects. I'll dedicate them all to SIMAP whenever the new work is ready.

It looks like the only BOINC projects that are still below 7K are Cosmology, Poem, and Yoyo (almost there). I guess the next target is 8K for all BOINC projects -- looks like there are around 10 that are not there yet, plus the three above.

I've been looking at the top 10 teams. A few are battling for 3rd place, but below that, the teams (like Ukraine or AnandTech) tend to have a rapid drop-off in points. Those teams are usually only highly ranked in one of the four types of projects, whereas our team is more balanced (although the missing two biology project teams hurts us). There's only 28K points between us at #23 and #15, another 42K between #15 and #10, and another 55K between #10 and #1. That means that we should be able to take #15 without too much extra work, but then the climb gets a little steeper.

Anybody want to figure out what our current average is for DC Vault "production", and when we should be able to overtake #15? It would be nice to have a target date as a goal. If we can just get all of the BOINC projects to at least 8K, that should get us halfway there.

The OGR-26 project is complete and OGR-27 is now running. This means OGR-26 will be removed from the vault and the points will go with them. So those lost points don't mean jack. With OGR-27, when they add it, we all start at zero. distributed.net estimates it will take 7 years to finish OGR-27, so we shouldn't have to go through this again any time soon.

I sent an email to Dnet about our team seems to have lost some of its OGR-26 points.
Mine completely disappeared and I think there are some other team mates that have lost there points to.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to us. OGR-26 stats are wonky at the moment. We're hoping to get them straightened out soon. Sorry about that.

Kind regards,
Mike"

The way I see it, if we can get all projects to 9,000 that are below that, we'd be sitting at 392,000, which would currently be good for 9th easily. Even if we take off for the two missing projects, 372,000 would be good for 10th. Now, if we include the two Prime Sierpinski projects, Muon, Eon, and a few other projects that I don't think are moving much, that's at least another 25,000 hard points, putting us at 347,000 and 13th overall.

So I'm thinking that the goal of 15th is good for our general approach, but anything above that is going to take real work and more "D"!

But that also means that we're competing on a more equal footing. Its a lot easier that way than when you start doing this in 2008 and the other teams have years of a head start on you. :D
