Is it CPU bound? Meaning is the server running out of cpu time to start up more workers?
Another thing is if your Uploading network rate is maxing your Internet connections upstream KBit/s bandwidth that can cause you from starting more workers since it can't send out anymore worker requests. There for holding back your downstream performance.

nah everything is fine.. i think its just a limitation of the program more then anything.. even on my home network i run into the same problem.. my server is a q6600.. w/ 4 gigs of ram.. only other thing i can think of is that its windows server edition thats the problem.. meh oh well.. i think ill just save the bandwidth on the server for other stuff and just keep maxing out my home connection until comcast decides they actually want to enforce the 250GB cap then maybe ill go back to using my server since its unmetered..

My Vista/Server 2008 systems are set to:

enabled
disabled (because the cpu is faster than the onbaord net chip)
normal
ctcp
enabled
disabled

I don't use the registry tweaks suggestions, I just leave them as they are.

I threw a few cores on RCN for the raid. Seems as though we are off to a good start. We are already in the Top 25 RAC. Good going guys.

Looks like we are now 100th in SHA-1. :) Just took a few days longer than expected.

yeah i had about 40 sha-1 projects left over on my x2 6400+ that i finally was able to finish up.. still have 10 left i think..

btw i have 4 cores running RCN..

The need for instant gratification in me gets me a bit frustrated when I see the Vault has us at 168 in RCN and the RCN page had us at 153 a couple hours before the Vault update. The RCN page has us at 142 now, which is quite a jump from the 180's we were at yesterday. This raid looks to be even more successful than SHA-1's.

And we finally made #100 in SHA-1.

Yeah the raid for RCN already seems successful and its not even Saturday yet! Keep on crunching. My only goal is to try and stay #1 for the team for RCN I added a p3 to the mix will see if anyone for the raid can knock me off for the RAC. I will take any challengers. :D

edit: Did anyone notice the Gimps added under mathmatical section?, if we jump on it quick enough we might be able start off pretty well.

I didn't notice that they actually added it yet, but I had been watching the discussion on it and Superlink@Technion. Of course they add one of the very few projects that we don't already have a presense in. And one of the oldest projects out there, so we have some catching up to do.

Yeah of course it has to be one we don't have a team for, after the raid for RCN I might have to do some for it.

Most of the non-Vault projects were started just for the sake of having a presence in the project. Very few of them have more than a couple hundred points anyway. I had some free time, a couple handy lists of projects with URL's, and got on a roll. :D

Actually, as of this post, they're both in there (Superlink is in the Bio/Med section), so currently the # of projects moves from 41 to 43... Even the groups with teams aren't showing pernts yet, so tomorrow may show some minor movement on the board...

The sweet part about Superlink is that there's 570 teams, and to get to 5000 Vault pernts, we only need to get to 285th place, which is currently less than 3000 pernts... Me thinks that we hit this with next weekends raid, we add 7-8000 Vault pernts in no time!

Of course, you've already add our team to Superlink, so there goes my shot at a second team captaincy! :D I'll just keep trying for that malaria invite instead...

You can still have GIMPS. Checking to verify there wasn't already a [H] team there was as far as I got. :D

I'm firing off an update request for superlink and trying again for proteins.

You know, I'm just lazy when it comes to non-Boinc projects... With Boinc, it's just a matter of going over to BOINCstats, adding the project to my list, attaching to all my hosts, then syncing the clients. :D

I've been thinking about trying something that runs smoothly along Boinc + 2 F@H on 9600GSOs on my dual core, but wasn't sure what was a small, non-intrusive app to run... But I'm open to suggestions!

I'm throwing out an early suggestion for superlink as next week's raid target. I'll probably be giving it some attention starting Monday.

We're ranked 534 as of today.

which one is that alan?

nvm i saw it.. yah ill jump on that after this raids over..

it was much closer.. first 50 places we moved up we were within 10k points in RCN.. first 50 places in SHA-1 was over 125K points.. :p see the difference.. :p

we lost 4 places in less then 12 hours.. damn..

id help in GIMPS.. but i just dont have enough systems to do all these projects.. sorry..

Superlink@Technion looks to be a limited run so get them while they last.
Warning: 3 day turn around due time. Looks to be about 11k units left and as other teams find out that this project is back up they will soak them up pretty fast.
They run pretty fast. Mine looks like it's not even running for about 15 min then jumps to 50% with about 20 minutes until it jumps 100% complete. Total time about 30 min/unit.
Some do have longer run times but I haven't done enough of them yet to know the average completion time.

quick question. What is RCN? I can't seem to find it to help with the push. What does it stand for?

Also, is it on gridrepublic and does it work with BOINC?

Since the superlink work appears to be limited and I don't see any indication when the next batch of work will be available, I'm going to be splitting my time between it and RCN. I'll keep going with RCN throughout the week to average it out though.

The good news with superlink is that we're so low in the rankings, every unit we complete moves us up a couple dozen places. :D

How did you guys create a GIMPS team? I can't seam to figure it out.
After you log in, on the left hand side is My account and My Team - click on the little arrow next to My Team and options drop underneath it which one is Create New Team

Got it thanks.

I see you guys took a big hit with those new projects being added. OUCH

I doubt it will take you long to recover though.

The Superlink tasks seem to require a decent amount of memory, about 250MB each. My giant Sudoku task finally finished (over 6000 pernts) so I'm running Superlink in its place. I still have 9 cores on RCN.

Yeah, but we only need 1200 points to get back 3 of those spots, and two of those three spots only passed us because they're top ten in superlink! We'll blow by them in no time, between this RCN raid and next week's Superlink attack... :D

Look at it this way - the Vault can add an all new project that we have no score in, and all it does is delay us by a day!

edit: From my calcs based on the current Superlink page numbers, the next update should move us up about 3,000 points in Superlink alone - more than enough to blow past Teams Sci-Fi, Starfire, & USA...

I'm doing something similar, except I'm going to pretty much go all out on Superlink until the units dry up. I feel bad dropping out of the RCN raid but I will try and make up for it later.

I believe the RCN raid has become unnecessary since new projects have been added. It already has boosted us a few hundred points in the project. I am going to stay with RCN but anyone for the raid who wants to join something that was recently added is more than welcome. We need to regain those 4 spots that we lost!

I've switched to 50/50 RCN and Superlink on all machines.

I need to rename one of my BOINC machines. Can I just wait for all tasks to end, rename, reboot, and then start up BOINC again? Or do I have to reinstall BOINC?

You will want to finish the all your projects before renaming the computer but you shouldn't have to reinstall Boinc.

Well, looks like RCN is hitting the end of the easy pernts - The Vault shows us at 129, good for about 8,500 Vault pernts overall. Another 50,000 project pernts, about 36-48 hours at our rate, and we'll break 9,000 on the Vault, and it gets slower from there... So I think I'm going to start allowing Superlink WUs tonight before taking SWMBO out to dinner, and just let my queue of RCN run out over the next 24-36 hours. I want to make sure to grab some Superlink WUs before they're gone, and getting that project up will get us back that fourth spot we lost, and an extra one as well!

edit: ^ heh, I guess I'm finally a limp gawd... :D Always thought [H]lite was kind of an oxymoron...

woot.. got my athlon 64 3200+ clawhammer core today.. damn things a beast compared to that sempron 3100+.. had the sempron at 2.6ghz and it was only doing 1.9 million cems/s 3200+ at 2ghz does 2.1million at 2.3ghz its doing 2.5 million..

well dangit ran into stability issues.. cpu was running 1C under the max for this cpu.. so ive dropped it down to 2.25ghz until i decide to put my big typhoon heatsink on it.. then ill try for 2.5ghz again..

LOL took you guys 1 update to get 3 spots back.

And that's without GIMPS on our page yet. :D

The server is still sitting there begging me to finish putting it back together, and get it on Commando duty. I fully intend to get on it tonight, I swear. :p

And finally, I got an email back from Rusty and he said "no proteins@home yet." I'm not sure what's going on there, we have a team, and the team has points. Maybe someday.

Is Superlink out of work? I'm trying to request more tasks but I'm not getting any. (I still have some in the queue.)

Edit: Hmm, I got some tasks on a different machine. I'll keep trying on the other machine.
