but got an error in the log file that it wasn't properly formatted so I used:
Yeah, that first line in my example isn't supposed to go in the sr2work.txt file. That's my unix command line, "more" pipes the content of the text file to the console. Sorry. :p

Yeah thats what I thought it was for. No problem.
I posted my message to have my name added to the list and to be added to the [H]ard|OCP team that I see you have asked to have created.
The forum isn't showing my posts yet but after they allow them I think they will show up.
Thats a silly way to let users post to a forum in my opinion.

I lived in Dublin for 8 years (went to High School out there years back)

I'm in Ohio and out bill is coming out to ~150 a month now. I'm a bit worried about summer.

i use to work in dublin, for Safeway.. but it probably wasnt built til way after you left.. its only about 5 years old, but its about to close.. management ran it into the ground and we all quit..

i think when i start back up everything im going to designate days or series of days to specific projects.. get more points that way instead of spreading everything out over 5-6 projects on each system..

Yeah, I have an email into ltd. He's apparently traveling for business this week so things are moving a bit slower than normal over there and he's the only one who can create the teams. Your posts, however, should show up soon. Any moderator, of which there are several, can approve them. Welcome to sieving.

My vote is 5-6 systems each with their own project :D

I agree. :D I'm putting together a new Quad next week and now thinking of devoting it to 2 x SoB cores with 2 x SoB/PSP Combined Sieves.

to bad i dont have 5-6 systems.. i only have 3 desktops and 3 laptops and i dont think ill be using the laptops anymore.. not really worth the 220w they use combined..

though if your offering to give me one.. preferably a quad core.. id greatly accept the offer.. :p lol

Already "gave" the neighbors a computer (E2160 with a 9600GS) to get it the heck off my house power. I zap the wifi over the street to feed, monitor and VNC into.

You wana move next door?

lol sure.. except my neighbors would be pissed.. i supply them all with free internet.. :p and my parents arent even close to smart enough when it comes to networking and knowing how to restart the modem and router.. :p

Does my post here on the Lattice forum sound too harsh?

It sound like a pussy post.
My reply? Hmm. OK. :D

Edit: I removed my post, I really don't want to go down that road anyway. Just pissed at those begging for credit where it shouldn't be given.

@SazanEyes - Hey man did that Sudoku unit ever finish? Mine is at 60+ hours and still at 17%. It says 160+ hours left and its still climbing. I hate to cancel the WU because I have so much time invested in it already but I dont want to keep wasting time either. I have my doubts as to if this thing will ever finish.

Oh and by the way - nice going on W@Home. Looks like we are up a couple more spots. My next WU should be done shortly.:)

I think Sudoku is still running. I'll have to check this evening.

I had a SZTAKI unit that finally ended at 144+ hours last night, but it had a "compute error" so no points. In the result details it says the error was "Maximum CPU time exceeded". Is there a time limit somewhere that I need to disable? This was running on my 2GHz C2D laptop (Vista).

I think I'm going to stop BOINCing for a while except for a couple projects and focus on Wieferich@Home. Most of the teams above us seem to be relatively flat, so we should be able to break into the top 20 in a few days.

Lattice now has some MARXAN work available!! My Windows BOINC box over at my parents just downloading one to work on. :D These are much less intensive than the GARLI projects.

@metallicafan - I just checked my sudoku account and one WU did finish last night after almost 69 hours (1,114.71 points). I'm still working on a second WU.

Well, I spoke too soon as there is suddenly no more work available. When I remoted into my parents machine to check out the progress, I saw that the MARXAN core GPF'd within 5 secs of launching and BOINC returned the work with a computation error. No messages in the log to indicate what might have happened. This machine has been crunching SHA-1 for the past month with no problems so I donut think it is a problem with my machine.

Ok Thanks. Good to know. Mine is at 64 hours on a C2D @ 2.2Ghz. What processor was your WU running on? I guess I'll let it go for another few hours and see if it progresses any.

I'll dump my other dual core back on Wieferich@Home when I get home tonight. See if I can help out a little more there. Seems like we should be able to grab some easy points.

Lattice Updates

Revisiting my MARXAN post from a few posts back, I wasn't the only one with problems with these new MARXAN units. Adam has since pulled these projects and releasing some new ones. Thread

We are rocking and rolling with Lattice overall and now sitting just over 4K pernts. I am still crunching on four big GARLI WUs and still have two pending credit once the other users finish their work (hopefully). Unfortunately, I have three WUs that were successful for me but will not be given any credit. Oh well.

There seems to be a problem with the CUDA RC5-72 points today. I received maybe 1/3 of the points the client indicates I was due.

2min slow on the report.

RC5 pernts are accurate for me but I'm only running the CPU client, no CUDA here.

A note to those of us who are Sieving - As I mentioned in my install notes above, this is a combined effort and it's searching for factors with both SoB and PSP. If you find a factor, go to enter it on the SoB import page, and if it says it didn't save it to the database don't be alarmed. This means that the factor found was a PSP factor and not a SoB factor. This is why it is recommended to just go ahead and post them on both sites, ignoring the one that doesn't take. See my epiphany here in this forum post.

1 point for the last 24 hours!?! Before I go and complain - Razor/Mr. Flibble - Are you guys running the newest beta or still one b2? I havent switched mine yet as I've been pretty busy at work the last couple days. Just wanted to make sure it not a problem with the old client.

DNet Cuda v2.9103.509 (beta) Windows
I don't think it's the client I think they forgot to update the receiving or credit server.

I would like to propose a set of guidelines for the [H]ard DC Commandos that help to form the vision of this group and to possibly help encourage others to join us by understanding our goals. I wrote up a simple 5 item list that outlines how I perceive the Commandos, and maybe with some tweaking from you guys, we can start a new thread with the list and invite more people to join. The 30 page DC vault topic might be getting a bit long for a newcomer to jump into and start to help. Here is my vision for the [H]ard DC Commandos:

1. Participation is completely voluntary. No one will be shunned for deciding not to help.
2. You can participate in whatever projects you feel are fitting of your time and effort.
3. We are here to support the [H]orde and to advance its standing in the distributed computing community.
4. Chimp Challenge participation, while not mandatory, is encouraged for [H]ard DC Commandos, because first and foremost, the [H]orde is a folding powerhouse and deserves to win the Lucky Jaded Monkey.
5. While participating in these projects is mainly an exercise of points whoring, it is important to remember that this is scientific research we are helping with and as such it is important to maintain hardware/configurations that will produce valid results.

Now the Chimp Challenge part is the part I forsee others maybe not liking. I just insert it because, Folding was what got me started and really, I do like that particular challenge. I think we lost last year because other teams who had much more diverse distributed computing activities put all of their eggs in the Folding basket for a few weeks and just beat us. I think the Commandos can be an important part in being a somewhat surprise force in the form of the [H]ardApe.

Folks!! I am very pleased to announce that we are finally on the board for SoB-Sieve!! LINK I am still waiting for the admin for PSP-Sieve to get back in town so he can setup our team and add my account on the import page. I already have factors to report for PSP-Sieve as well so we will be on the board with them just as soon as the admin sets us up.

Wheresatom, good stuff. I will give it some thought and try to add my 2 cents soon.

So are you going to take the honors of submitting it to add onto our DC-Vault page?

The Proteins@Home project is "dead in the water". I don't see you getting anything done anytime soon.

I tend to agree with this - after all, folding is the only officially supported DC project here, and we're really doing what we're doing for personal reasons. Is it fun to see the [H] moving up in the Vault? Hell yeah. But we'll get more smack talk out of the monkey than all the Vault ranking we can get... Besides, if we want to talk folders into giving us their unused CPU cycles, we'd better damn well be there for the [H]orde for the big challenges! This is one reason that I've never bothered with GPUgrid or any other non-CPU client - until the F@H GPU client gets as bad to run as the Win SMP one (and let's hope that never happens), all my GPU base are belong to Pande... :D

As long as its on the Vault we just want our points added to our page. I no longer have any hope of seeing Phase 3 getting off the ground in our lifetime. :D

That, and everyone who was involved in last years CC knows win or lose, it's the most fun in DCing you'll ever have. :D

You hear something newer than on the project forum? Last word was that the moderator and admin, david, wasn't sure if the third phase was canceled or postponed... Before that it was always that new WUs would be coming soon. We're just eternally optimistic around here!

If the Project Administrator can't say if/when new work is coming, I wouldn't hold my breath. Phase 3 has been pending for 4 months now.

My vote is 5-6 systems each with their own project :D
Sure, why not - with the 17 BOINC projects I'm currently running, that would only be 85 systems... take away the 3 I have currently going, and only 82 to go! No problem!

Especially If I slap triple 295s in each for folding... Wait, I need money? Why?
