Nice, look out Alan, here I come. :p

Bring it on! :D

When I started on Dimes, the individual stats pages used to update hourly and the team stats a couple times a day. I'm not sure what it is now, I haven't paid enough attention to it lately.

Sadly, had I kept it running since I started, I'd be closing in on #1 if I wasn't already there. The scores above me haven't changed at all in the last year.

Thanks for the info. Looks like the team stats have updated a couple times this morning but now seem to be in a resting phase.
I'll keep an eye on it and see if I can deduce a pattern.

Until a motto can be decided on for us, I'll just keep the team's Majestic-12 motto as "[H]ome of the [H]orde"

Chime in all ye faithful crunchers, let us know what you like.

Did anyone have there RC5-72 Cuda v2.9102.508b2 (beta) expire like mine did?
There hasn't been any new cuda beta released yet.

Up one more place to #60. And there's the jump in SZTAKI I was waiting for.

That leaves us 10 more places to go and a day short of 4 weeks to do it to reach our goal of Feb 14. Looking good guys!

yeah mine expired last night..

And now it looks like there are NO CUDA clients on their download page. :( Hopefully they bring it back - We put up a lot of points pretty quickly with that client. :)

Looks like we jumped to #59 overnight. If we keep jumping 1 spot per day we will shatter our goal. Good work Commandos!

Welcome aboard team SZTAKI SazanEyes. That's definitely a project that we can use a boost in.
Drop in and say hi some time!

And finally after 312:47:47 of CPU time, I finally finished a CPDN unit! :D

Hi guys. Since I'm currently folding for another team, I though I would help with some other projects. I'm currently running SZTAKI, Sudoku, Eulernet, and Wieferich@Home. I also did a couple ABC@home WUs that are still pending. It looked like the math projects were the best way to boost the team stats.

Eulernet is running on my old P3, so whenever it reports, it should be a huge bump. I haven't really figured out how it works.

Thanks for the help. We sure do appreciate it.

I believe Eulernet will report your time to the server once the client finds the calculation it's looking for.
Some of these calculation take only a few hours while others days.
I have one thats been running for about 55 hours in calculating time on a 4ghz+ duel core.
Then it takes a day or two for the Top Producers list to update. http://euler.free.fr/top.htm

Thanks again SazanEyes. Everything you toss our way is greatly appreciated!

I started doing some more ABC@home tasks since they seem to be good point generators.

The Sudoku page said they regenerated some "hard" work units, and I believe them. I'm at 73% of my first WU after almost 24 hours on a 2GHz C2D. For some reason the deadline is 11/15/2009!

Welcome SazanEyes! Thanks for helping out the [H]ardest team! Yeah the ABC@home WUs seem to score well and seem to be really stable. Im thinking about dumping all my resources at this for a little while - see if we cant get up in the Top 200.

I too have been trying out some of those Sudoku units as well and I have seen similar results. The one Im working on now is at 62% a mere 27 hours in. But it looks like we still have some easy spots to grab in this project so I've been dedicating one core to it.

My Sudoku WU just finished, and I got 531 points, so I guess they pay off for taking so long. Right now I have two cores alternating between Sudoku, SZTAKI, and ABC@home.

More "D" arrives tomorrow! :D

Slow down guys, we're up another spot to #57. This business of moving up 3 places every 2 days is going to get us under 50 way before our goal date. We'd already be there if proteins@Home and The Lattice Project would start handing out work again.

SZTAKI and Sudoku are now over 5000 so I think I'll start tossing some points at some sub-5000 point projects. I've still got over 1300 points pending on SZTAKI, so we should be fine there. :D

I switched this morning from MilkyWay and Sudoku to Cosmology and NQueens.
I'll hammer on these for awhile until there above 5k then pick on something else.
Plus I switched some stuff around and put more cpu power at Seventeen Or Bust.

It would be scary what we could do if we all went full throttle on one project. :D

I think Folding is pretty much where we are with that. Far above any other team no doubt. I'd love to be top 10 in a couple other projects.

BTW, I have been trying a little harder with Cosmology also. I upped it's percentage in gridrepublic hoping to move us up a bit more.

Sadly, I don't really bring that much hardware to the fight.

I was thinking about that too. Once we crack the top 50 we should organize a group effort on one or two projects. See if we can get a quick boost in a project, then rinse and repeat. ;) With a group effort - in a week we could probably be Top 50 in many of these projects.

Wheresatom - Every resource counts. Big or small contributions - its the group effort that makes the Horde an unstoppable force. :)

Keep up the good work!

metallicafan - "rinse and repeat", I like that. Made me laugh.
I agree that would be a good thing to do to get us up higher in individual projects.
We may need one or two process cycling through the rest to hold our ground.

For most of these projects, it seems like there's not much action outside of the top 20 teams. If we were to attack some of the projects where we're down in the hundreds, we could probably move up pretty quickly to at least the top 50 and stay there.

P.S. - building my new box now...

I meant just our small band of Commandos. We're killing them as it is when we're spread across all 41 projects. We'll hit top 10 in a few soon enough.

Up to the 45th spot with OGR-26. It looks like mflop and I are the only active commandos with this project at the moment.

Exactly. Our Dimes team was completely inactive for 10 months and we only dropped from 26 to 30. And as far bac as the way back machine takes me, we've always been top 50 in Muon.

Sorry I'll get back there soon and help, been trying to move us in other spots at the moment.

I put in a set yesterday into Muon1 and will try to get more in, looks like theres a big hole to crawl through to get to the next spot, but I'll keep at it as much as I can.

I agree once we get up there in the top 50's in these projects it should be pretty easy to stay there and make even more progress.
At the same time I have to say the alan2308 has a point that we are moving up very well even though we are spread out on these projects.
But we may need to have some small sub units of commandos work together to get over some of the larger point gaps that I'm sure we will encounter.

Hey, goals were made to be shattered! :D

Lucky you - I just had to abort a SZTAKI WU today because I ran up on the deadline after 77 hours, and was only at 25% - and this was on a 3.4Ghz machine doing nothing else over the weekend! I read in their forums that there were some messed up large WUs that they may give pernts out for in cases like this, so I'm hoping - but for now, that project is off my list!

Sadly, I don't really bring that much hardware to the fight.
Right there with you, brother - running 17 projects on only 3 machines really stretches things thin! Especially with the laptop - I'm trying to keep it to small, stable projects like Spinhenge, Milkyway, Leiden & Docking, along with some WCG for good measure. 1.4 GHz tends to run over dealines on things like Primegrid & SZTAKI...

I saw those messages, and I think I'm working on one of those WU now. I'm 26 hours in, and I just hit 15%. However, I'm trying to dedicate a core to it so that it will finish in time.

The rest of the graphics cards and a second PSU should arrive later this week. I just ordered a SmartUPS 1500 for the beast, but I'm not sure where I'm going to plug it in. I need a dedicated circuit! :p

Windows is almost done installing, and then I'll fire up BOINC and F@H GPU to "test" the hardware.

Sweet yo, nice rig!
I have that memory in my son's computer. 2 sticks with the new style cooling fins and 2 with the old style cooling fins.

I'm dedicating a few decent systems to WCG very soon.

Excellent. The WCG'ers always have challenges going and will greatly appreciate more help in their continued dominance of the challenges.

Sazan - Nice looking rig you have there. Now you mentioned graphics cards. How many of them are going in that board? :D

rflcptr - Thanks for the help. That project is gaining momentum everyday.

Speaking of WCG - Where's nomad? I havent seen him around in a while.

@ SazanEyes,

Do you hear angels when you turned it on? I know I do when ever I power up new [H]ardware.

metallicafan's Tip of the Day

For those of you that want to run the RC5-72 CUDA client just use the old beta client and turn your system clock back a week or two. ;)

Speaking of WCG - Where's nomad? I havent seen him around in a while.

A little bit ago he said he was coming up on a hellish stretch at work and wouldn't be around as much for a while.

your going down Razor, on DIMES!!!

Razor shouldn't be your target. I'll be cracking the top 10 in another couple days, and its lonely up here amongst the scores that do not move. :D

Four, of course. :D The two EVGAs I got from Sir_Loin and the recert EVGA (and second 750W PSU) from Newegg all arrive tomorrow.

Do you hear angels when you turned it on? I know I do when ever I power up new [H]ardware.

It might have been angels, or it might have been the fan on my poor SmartUPS 1000XL kicking in to high gear. Everything's working well, and all last night it ran BOINC and two Folding GPU clients without problems. I opened the window and closed the office door to try to keep everything cool today. The system temps are actually lower than in my current desktop, but there are a lot of PCs in that small room.

Anyway, I wonder if Wieferich@Home would be a good target for a commando raid? Our team is #27 out of 43, but there's some steep climbing ahead. It's hard to tell which teams above us are active and which ones aren't.
