DC Vault

I did finally grab 2 ufluid units, one is done, the other is fighting for CPU time with everything else I grabbed a unit of today and WCG on much higher priority. I still haven't gotten a single QMC unit.

We're up 7 positions to #116 in the Vault! I've been denied twice now for SIMAP. Likely because I'm still the only one with credit until they have more work next month, none of us have points in proteins@home. I have no idea why spinhenge was a no go.

BTW, who is tr0ach? It's clearly someone here who's following this thread and knows where we're going.
I noticed the uFluids go right to 30% done then really slow down for about 10% more then bang there done.
SIMAP has given me a few units but not many. Maybe they just missed getting Spinhenge updated.
Yeah I noticed tr0ach following our every move, not sure who he/she is but defenitaly putting in some good points so thats great.

I got a unit from QMC queued up along side all the rest - POEM@home is the one giving me the most trouble! Those units seem to take FOREVER to download...

Oh, and as a warning, I joined & created a team for Primegrid, and it downloaded about 20 units, thinking they should only take about 15:41 each. In reality, it looks like they're going to take 2-3 times that, each, although that could be due to having a 3.4Ghz hyperthreaded processor on my work machine instead of a true dual core.

*snip*

Exactly - every commando team needs cannon fodder, and I was thinking I was going to be the only one! :D The more we have in the trenches, the better...

I'll guess sirmonkey1985. Anyone else? :D

Might just be someone who got recruited for the race. The nick came on about that time. It could be one of his borgs though..

I've currently got SHA1 and Poem as well as CPDN set for no new tasks so they're depleting. But it looks like CPDN will take over a week to deplete before I can move on there. Poem should be done by tomorrow and I'll move on to wherever is light with that core. SHA1 has been set to deplete for 2 days but it D/L'd so many units it'll be another 2 days there probably.

Nice to see we're moving up in the Vault standings. "Top 50 or Bust!"

I'm in for the Top 50!
Thanks Wheresatom for the nudge in the right direction to get this DC-Vault position fixed.

According to my math, even if we had 5000 points per category in the Vault, we'd be up to 60th. Since we have more than that in several (like that nice 10,000 for F@H), 50 should be very doable within a few months - so I'll call February 15th now for breaking into the top 50!

And I second the kudos to Wheresatom - have some well deserved Beer and Tamales!

Einstein@Home up 1 spot
Seti (BOINC) up 4 spots
POEM@Home up 4 spots
WCG up 1 spot
SHA-1 up 22 spots

Overall - still #116, but team P.R.O.T.T. is about to fall to the Horde.

Edit: SHA-1 looks like a good place right now to make some difference. We're up another 15 places since the last Vault update.

Good to know about SHA-1. I've got a Linux box that's cranking them out but had stopped getting new work to move on to wherever else was necessary. I'll turn the work back on it for a few more days yet. I can either let Poem run another couple days or move on depending on what's needed.

It looks like we're making some nice progress already.

We gained 330 vault points on SHA-1 alone this last update. So for the short term, it looks like some good low hanging fruit until we get out of the wasteland at the bottom of the rankings.

Also, DIMES is a separate client that uses less than 5% of one core. You can run it on EVERY box along with BOINC. From a quick glance, I don't think there's but 3 people still running it. (of course one is our old friend KAMCOBILL :D)

Something to keep in mind if you're looking for any of our existing teams on a project. I was just looking @ a couple of projects to update the spreadsheet with "team pages". I could NOT find our team on Docking@Home until after I created an account. Then I found it by searching for [H]ard (since I already knew the team name. searching for the whole name didn't work either even with an account). Using the same search criteria just didn't work before signing up for an account.

I've noticed this on several other projects as well. So just a heads up before you create a team.

I haven't noticed that, but I'll keep it in mind. On a related note, I found a second team in Einstein@Home, listed as "Hard OCP." Fortunately we have the better of the two tracked. I never thought to just go here and search by team. I've put in "[H]ard|OCP," "[H]ardOCP," "HardOCP," and "Hard OCP"

I think the SIMAP team name is wrong in the list. I found HardOCP but could not find [H]ard|OCP.

Alan could you verify that this is the correct team. If so I'll get it corrected in the next list update. Also I'll move a core over here as soon as the race is over.

I just saw your post BTW and I've already added the note in Einstein about the second team.

Yeah, that's the right one, good catch. That note to be consistent in the naming seems more important than ever. I can't even stay consistent. :D

I forgot about this search site. I added a link to the results for 3 searches in the bottom of the spreadsheet. ([H]ard|OCP, [H]ardOCP and HardOCP) since these are the 3 most common existing team names.

It looks like there's 2 Seti teams as well (didn't add that note in the sheet yet). The one under "HardOCP" has the most points, not the one we have listed. I guess we need to decide which one to list? Maybe either "most active" or the one with "most points"? They may be one and the same. I didn't check yet. Getting ready to go to work soon so that's about it for me for the day..

My vote will always go for the one with the most points. Does anyone have a good reason otherwise? And I'm pretty sure that in SETI you get to take your points with you if you switch teams.

edit: 5 million points vs. 500K points.

Yeah I don't care which one except that we want the most active producers, but we need to decide because I'm building up alot of pending points with the GPU-Seti.
Yes you can take your points if you switch Seti teams.

I'd agree with going with the most points as the "official" team to list for the project. If that's the route we go I'll see if I can track down the Captain of the team to add to the list when I update it.

Only problem I see with going that route is the higher team is NOT the one the Vault has listed. Can this be changed?

(edited to add info about Vault listing.)

I'll see if I can track down the Captain of the team to add to the list when I update it.
Is that why Spinhenge hasn't been added to the DC-Vault yet? If so I will Request team founder transfer.

Zoramac is the captain of HardOCP, Tarran is the captain of [H]ardOCP.

I don't know why they wouldn't add us on Spinhenge, but I don't think that's it.

And yes, we can change the team on the Vault. I changed the WCG team to the right one a while back.

3 fast posts and a page change.. :D

See my edit on the previous page about Seti team/Vault listing.

I should have been more specific, that edit post/edit is what I was referring to. We can have the Vault entry changed. I meant that I know we can do that, because I have done it before. That'll be a nice bump going from 4000 to 400. :p

Stay where you're at for now. I think you have the right one. I did see sirmonkey on the other Seti team though. Hopefully he'll see this when he gets back online...

No prob, I was on the other team but noticed in your spreadsheet which I then checked on the DC-Vault that I was on the wrong team so I switched yesterday to [H]ardOCP team.
I see alan2308 and tr0ach on the HardOCP team that I just left.

I'm sending off to have the SETI team changed. I see Razor and sirmonkey on the wrong one, and myself and tr0ach on the right one. I guess this invalidates my guess that sirmonkey=tr0ach. :D

This should get us past P.R.O.T.T. and on our way to taking down Microsoft.

Yeah the HardOCP team would be best, so I'll switch back over, thanks alan2308.:)
As soon as DC-Vault gets Seti updated to HardOCP that will be a huge jump.

I think that the "right team" and "wrong team" terminology that I used was probably not the way to word it. According to the list we were working off of, tr0ach and I actually joined up on the "wrong team." Though from my point of view, getting behind the one ranked #4000 with only 500K points is "wrong." :D

Edit: I've also send a couple messages to some of the SETI crunchers asking them to pop in and join the fun.

[H]ard|OCP teams created in these projects:
Leiden Classic (created this morning)
The Lattice Project
Rectilinear Crossing Number
Sudoku
SZTAKI Desktop Grid
NQueens@Home
yoyo@home

Malariacontrol.net needs invite code to create account. Team not created yet.

I think Prime Sierpinski Problem - PRP & Prime Sierpinski Problem - Sieve are in Primegrid project as far as I can tell.

These projects not in Boinc. Separate Client required.
RC5-72
OGR-26
Seventeen Or Bust
Seventeen Or Bust - Sieve
Wieferich@Home
Majestic-12

LHC@Home is now giving work units out. Try manual update a few times.

I see they changed the Seti team in the DC-Vault to HardOCP.

It looks like they might have changed the name of the team in SETI rather than the actual team itself. I'll double check again after I'm sure that there's been another update.

up 3 more places in climateprediction.net (5 points)
up 7 places in POEM@Home (186 points)
up 6 more places in SHA-1 (87 points)
same position in WCG but gained a few percentage points
same in Einstein@Home

we're trailing P.R.O.T.T by less than 4 points overall.

Nice to see some movement.

I'll get these latest updates into the sheet and get it uploaded.

You're a team starting fool Razor!! :D Whatcha going to do when they're all done?

Great job on all the leg work. I think we're getting a decent handle on teams and projects finally.

I figured it had to get done so what the heck. If anyone want to help captain any of these teams just let me know, I'll be happy to hand over some of the founder positions.
Since you asked whats next, I'll give you a hint that the non Boinc projects will be getting some attention here after awhile if someone doesn't do it first.
I need to do some crunching on the projects that have been started allready to get our standings higher before I can add any more tasks to my allready heavily loaded systems.
Thinking of picking up a couple quads to help out!

Nice. Myself, I probably won't head off on any of the non-Boinc projects for awhile. With my schedule, I don't have a lot of time to babysit additional clients but it's a great idea. I AM going to start moving around to some of the other projects more as soon as the race with AnandTech is over January 2nd.

You might find the latest update to the spreadsheet helpful with the project hopping. I added a second sheet "Membership" primarily to help me keep track of what projects I had accounts with and which ones I was active in and on which of my crunchers they were running.

I just setup an account at Simap. I can find our team but there's no way I can find to actually JOIN the team. The join button isn't there. Maybe because they're out of work until 1/1 IDK. I'll try it again before I grab any work from there.

What is one's responsibility when captaining a team? I might consider it if I find one or two projects very much to my liking.
